We stopped at Westerlay's Orchids yesterday in Carpinteria. Ron noticed that they were getting ready to ship orchids all over the United States and took this picture. These beautiful phaleonopsis with be housed in plastic and paper sleeves, boxed and sent to every state. This was just a partial view of one of their greenhouses output.

We love getting our orchids directly from the greenhouse...there are so many to choose from, and cymbidiums are early this year! They usually make their entrance in late September!

Do NOT let me near those! Orchids are so beautiful but we just don't seem to make it to that blooming stage together. Ron has certainly been busy in the photo-taking realm.

By the way...talking about early entrances....Phantom, Bogle's yearly red is NOW on the Trader Joes shelves about 3 months early. I already bought a case...the soumalier allowed me to have a sneak "taste"...OMG. The last 2-3 years and this year (I believe, but don't quote me) are supposed to be divine for wines.

Debe Maxwell they make me feel like such a failure! As if I"m a bad mom or something! I LOVE them, too, but they don't have the same connection. I keep thinking that through trial-and-error I'll finally get the right formula of watering and sunshine. I put ice cubes in only as that's what I heard works. I have a few an NONE of them bloom.
