The tree that I have in my front yard is nice, but grows a little awkwardly, as it lost one of it's arms in a storm many years ago. It is beginning to fill out more evenly these days though. I really like that it doesn't create much of a mess, is very low maintenance, yet looks very nice where it is positioned!
When I put my landscaping in, I had what I thought was a good plan, but it didn't quite turn out how I had hoped, haha. It is low maintenance though, so I am happy about that. I thought it would grow with a bed of green and then other colors would sprout out of it from the different bushes and plants. The aloe is pretty cool and grows abundantly, but also has a really pretty orange bloom at times at the top of the branch that grows from it. Often hummingbirds will fly around it, which is neat to watch from my window. The hot summers here seem to be a bit rough on the shrubs that I chose, but the rest of the year they look great.
By my front door, I planted a jasmine tree because I thought it would have a really nice scent. I have not noticed much of a fragrant smell coming from it and it is highly possible that they gave me the wrong thing, haha. The white blooms from it are nice at times though.
My backyard is pretty bare, although there is a really big tree that provides a lot of shade most of the year. It is very low maintenance, other than when it sheds it's leaves all over the yard, haha.
I know that my blooms are not impressive at all, but I really look forward to seeing all of the beautiful gardens that the rest of the people in the Rain keep at their homes!
