The original Santa Maria Costco Store #24 opened for business in Fall 1988. Almost 30 years later the original store is closing and the new Costco store is opening in less than a month. Most likely you have viewed the quick construction progress while driving down Hwy 101 off the freeway.
What's New?
First of all the design will be updated and similar to the San Luis Obispo Costco store in many ways if you've shopped there. The parking congestion should decrease as entry to the main parking area is more accessible and designated for Costco shoppers. The store design will lessen the congestion, traffic associated at the entry/exit points.
New Gas Station
The new Costco gas station includes 24 gas pumps. This makes Costco gas station one of the largest gas station in Santa Maria Valley. Costco gas prices is competitive, if not one of the cheapest gas stations in the area. Now you are able to gas up while you shop!
Food Court
Another change is the food court is located in the front of the store and open to the general public. My sources also stated hamburgers is added to the menu. This new food court design will give the Costco store additonal space and reduce people congestion inside.
