The SalesForce building is a symbol of what is coming

Real Estate Agent with The Virtual Real Estate Team 104556

I was in San Francisco two weekends ago to speak to an investor group and when I was in town I saw an amazing site which turned out to be the new SalesForce building. When completed it will be the tallest building west of Chicago at 1070 feet and it dwarfs the skyline there. I should have taken a picture but I have this public domain picture from the ABC news channel in San Francisco. It was a bit foggy the day I saw it and the top was shrouded which added to it majestic look.

I have been following the development of artificial intelligence in their platform and if I was running a team this would be my CRM even with the $150 per month charge. Now the AI will even analyze your email inbox to let you know what should be your immediate attention. The AI analyzes email content and makes that decision for you and as this developments it even analyzes your marketing and can adjust for that. Bill Gates was on CBS this morning on Friday and was specifically talking about the importance of AI. When asked about development he gave it 5 years to be perfected.

5 Years!!! I have about 5 years left where I want to keep working at real estate but my fascination with AI just might make me hang around longer. If you are a new agent and plan to practice real estate for the next 20 years you better get on board for this just like many of us recognized the importance of the Web for marketing in the 1990s. I am not saying that AI will replace humans, but I do believe it is the one development where I can use that overused and misplaced word, disruption. This building should tell you something and FYI, I analyzed the stock and it is over performing. I bought it since it is too late for Amazon or Apple. Follow the leader.

I was one of those people who hung onto a flip phone longer than some.  I loved the simplicity of it all.  Yet, when I finally purchased my first smartphone, I began to understand what I had been missing.  I often use the microphone to ask Google questions like, "Who did Pete Ranzany fight against?"  Right away, Boom Mancini's name popped up.  That was the guy I was trying to recall.  Both lived here in the Sacramento area during the peak of their boxing years in the 1980s.  There's no need for Encyclopedia Britannica any longer.  The future of AI is what we have now, only on steroids.

Joe very interesting indeed. There is a lot of 'disruption' going on and lots of new ways of doing and being - AI is on the way.

I don't think I would want to go to the top of that building, as I am scared of heights, haha.  I would not be able to look out of the window from the top.

Oh, I find that interesting as well, Joe and hope that in 5 years you take on that AI fascination with a focus on real estate and bring us something spectacular to improve our businesses!

I have heard many wonderful things about SalesForce but, am currently with Brivity but, there's no AI involved in that system. I think I would love the email feature. I'm currently paying for another system to go through emails for me - that can be a real time-suck in our business. This system that I use is helping tremendously though.

It is amazing what is changing and the speed of change around us as well. My son told his son who is eight, don't worry about learning to drive, all the cars will be self driving by the time you are old enough to drive, he might be right.

Hi Joe - yes, the Sales Force tower dominates the skyline; it can be seen from almost every neighborhood---and it IS big!

I like your comments about AI - life is changing that's for sure, just like skylines.

AI will likely be disruptive technology.

As a complete aside (but interesting from a RE perspective); the 58-story building next to the Salesforce building--Millennium Towers a luxury condo high rise--has sunk 16 inches and tilted 2" since it opened about 10 years ago.  The drama and lawsuits have been playing out in the local media over the last 3-4 years.  It's a mess.

I hope to not be in this business too much longer myself. But it sure will be intersting to see where real estate and this profession in 20 years, God willing I live that long.

I haven't been to SFO for a bit so haven't seen this new structure. You do have to consider what Lloyd Binen says about the Millenium Tower and the issues there. And I can just imagine what they have to do to make the building as safe as possible for earthquakes.

As far as AI is concerned, it's impressive what it can do, and how quickly things are changing. Can you imagine 5 years from now?
