Happy Thanksgiving!
If you are new to town and looking for something to do.... or maybe it's already your Thanksgiving tradition.... here's what's happening in Aiken!
First up:
Bloodies and Bagels, - exactly what it sounds like, haha - enjoy bloody mary's and bagels (with different cream cheese spreads available, too!) There is no charge to attend, but donations gladly accepted :) you can even join as a member.
where: on the lawn at the Aiken Historical Museum, 433 Newberry Street SW
hosted by: Aiken Land Conservancy
when: 9am
Next:
Blessing of the Hounds, - for over a century this tradition continues.... walk into the majestic Hitchcock Woods (our 2200+ acre urban forest in the center of town), stroll along the trail to Memorial Gate. Don't worry, you won't be alone- you won't get lost :) Be part of the tradition. See the hounds. See the horses and riders. Enjoy the annual blessing of the hunting hounds, and watch the Aiken Hunt Club ride off onto the hunt. I'm happy to say that they do a drag hunt, where the hounds follow a scent, not a live fox.
where: Hitchcock Woods, at Memorial Gate
11am
Last but not Least!:
One Table, - time for Aiken's Community Thanksgiving Dinner, bring your family, friends and your appetite. Enjoy THanksgiving dinner with your friends and neighbors. This community event is a great hit. Please bring a donation for Christ Central, to help offset the costs involved in this event, and to help them assist with their mission.
One Table is open to EVERYONE!! EVERYONE is welcome, everyone :) seriously, it's a community event, everyone is welcome... everyone is there, lol - young, old, families, singles, rich, not so rich, hardly rich, lol, you get the drift.
11am - 1pm
There is also a 5k Turkey Trot in the morning, will try to find more info on that and let you know.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
