One of my vices is that I read too much, primarily mystery novels. My excuse is that I don’t watch TV – I read instead. I also read while I’m cooking dinner, riding in the car with my husband (who doesn’t talk when he’s driving) or waiting anywhere. When I leave the house, a book goes with me.
The interesting thing is that I often learn things that I would never have thought about.
Yesterday, for instance, I learned about Edgar Allen Poe’s childhood.
Today, I learned that top real estate agents and talented stagers possess sprezzatura.
What is that?
It’s an Italian word that means, in essence, the art of making something difficult look easy.
And isn’t that why so many people think your job is easy?
- You work hard behind the scenes to get things done.
- You study your market and your craft and know things other people don’t know.
- You make contacts and know where to turn when you need the solution to a problem.

I believe you do a bit of that too – whenever you’d like to pick a client up and shake some sense into them.
