From small things bigs things one day come

It's sea turtle hatching season in Jupiter Florida, and when you walk the beach, the places where eggs have been laid is clearly marked and we all respect those areas. It really is fun to be walking the beach and seeing the little ones do what all little sea turtles have been doing for thousands of years. They emerge from the sand and head to the ocean like so many past relatives have done. You don't want to help them as much as you want to because you do not interfere with nature. It doesn't mean you don't root them on and we get together and clap together for there success. We also make sure our dogs don't interfere.

At Loggerhead Park, they have a wonderful sea turtle rescue facility where you can see turtles that have been damaged, mostly by humans. We seem to think that we are superior to all creatures but for those of us who believe that the word is just a big egg and we are all in this together, no way do we go along with that. Another great activity at Juno Beach or Jupiter Beach is when after the adult sea turtles have been rehabbed, they are released to head to the ocean again. It is an emotional experience that is attended by hundreds, and there is no better party than that.

So to all of you who love nature and all creatures, you are the best people in the world. Rescuing dogs and cats to find their loving home, cheering for sea turtles great and small, and respecting nature are wonderful things to do. Humans can be an arrogant lot but this little guy made me feel small in the grand scheme of things, and you know something, that is just fine with me. Have a lovely weekend.

I was watching a segment on a news program recently.  They were covering this event with the turtles.  I would love to see it live, one day!

My family has a home on the beach on Pawley's Island. We cannot ever turn on the exterior flood lights at the cottage because during Sea Turtle hatching season, it will disrupt their 'process.' Because we're afraid that some guests may not 'adhere' to or even know the season that this is prohibited on the beach, we have removed all light bulbs from all exterior fixtures.

We love watching the little ones learn their way to the ocean, as you said, as many of their ancestors before them! Nothing beats watching nature at work, does it?

Ahhh . . .  love your Blog Joe Pryor!  I have never seen the turtles, though have heard about them from a friend in lives in FL.  I have only been to FL twice - Miami/SoBe and St. Pete, and this was years ago now.  I would have loved to have seen the sea turtles, as I'm a huge animal lover and dog rescuer.  I do love Mother Nature and 'to get to see how she works' sounds very special!  Thank you for sharing . . .  I pray it always continues!

Joe-we were lucky years ago and came upon a turtle burying her eggs at the north end of the beach. We've also seen the baby tracks when we hit the beach early in the morning. Life is glorious and every single creature counts.

It's a wonderful cycle - hatch and enter the ocean, return and lay eggs.  It would be so cool to see it happen!  You're lucky to be there to see this little guy make a break for the beach.

Great story.  I just look at our dogs and they are like children.  My wife has rescued over 20 cats.  ha.  I 'rescued' 2.  Our dogs are rescues.  Thanks for the emotions there Joe.
