"My favorite exercise is between a lunge and a crunch. I call it lunch."
Like many of you, I spend a lot of time sitting at my computer. Due to a number of significant injuries, if I stand or sit for any extended period of time, my back and hips start to hurt.
I tend to lose track of time when I write, so I often set the timer on my phone to go off at least every hour. That is my queue to get up and move.
One of my favorite things to do is get on my treadmill if even for a few minutes. When I say "favorite" it doesn't mean I enjoy it but I find it an effective way to loosen up in a short period of time so I can get back to what I was doing.
Having the treadmill in my home allows me to get on it several times during the day to keep the 'ol body as flexible as possible. I have even discovered that I tend to play a better game of golf if I spend a few minutes on the treadmill just before I leave the house.
I'm more of a sports person. I like to play a game where there are points involved. The treadmill is boring but it does help me stay more mobile than I would be otherwise during those days when I can't get out and be more active.
I am thankful for my treadmill.
Good morning, Carol --- while a treadmill may be a better choice, some may decide on lunch. Choose wisely. Right?
Good morning Carol. I would never think of a machine in that way but if it works for you......
HI Carol Williams - Having a treadmill is a great way to stay fit. I have a commercial grade recumbent bike. I have to place it in front of the TV or I would get bored out of my mind. The other thing I do is look at the different indicies like calories burned, number of minutes, etc. to give me small goals to reach.
Carol,
I am glad you enjoy and are thankful for your treadmill. My treadmill is going up and down the stairs many times a day...I like going to classes, and our long walks. A
Perhaps you would like to buy my Precor Elliptical? I don't know why I bought it when I never used the treadmill, either.
Carol, I too use the treadmill since it is easier to just get on the thing without too much effort. I do prefer outdoor activities but the in house option works for me. Happy golfing!
Hello Carol, I am thankful for mine also but not on it enough in the summer time but now getting colder I need to
I worked at a software company for 8 years. I can attest to the pain that comes from sitting in front of a computer all day. Fortunately, the company downsized, had a layoff and gave me a golden parachue. Otherwise, I would have been crippled.
Hi Carol- we had a treadmill and recumbent bike at one time but when we moved back to FL we got rid of them. We decided that with the weather here, we needed to get our behinds outside and walking, which we do.
Carol, I keep telling myself to get up and get on the treadmill.... and I will. Use to do this all the time. And, now that it is cold out my husband walks the dog. So I need to exercise and may start doing what you do..set my alarm :)
I have a treadmill and vow to get back on it. I always felt better walking for 30 minutes each day.
I would like to have a treadmill for those wintery days where outside walking/running isn't possible. But I certainly agree to its boringness (if that's a word).

My Fitbit reminds me to get up each hour and move around, so I'm grateful for that. I'd rather get outside, enjoy nature and take photos during my walk, but anything below 55 degrees is too cold for me. Sometimes I wear a path in the rug getting my steps in!
Like Pat Starnes-Front Gate Realty, my Fitbit gives me a nudge each hour and it's often time to refill the coffee cup anyway! LOL
I used to have a treadmill and I gave it to my SIL, who later sold it, claiming she never used it! LOL I do have a stationary bike and love it. I'm sure I could use it more but, it's there when the mood strikes! Like you, I do better when I use it! LOL
I wish I had space for something like that. I have to settle for a stepper, which can work up a sweat pretty quickly too.
Our bodies were meant to move and the weather doesn’t always cooperate here in Washington so BRAVO Carol Williams
