I don't necessarity agree with that except if the buyers stick to the plan and not make too many chnages during construction

I've gone the remodeling route several times, and have not yet built from the ground up. Staying within the budget and the plan is essential no matter which course is chosen.

We built our own home about five years ago after finding the 'perfect' lot. Unfortunately when we were putting in the footers we discovered a dry creek bed was running the length of our lot just below the surface. Long story short what should've cost 5k ended up being closer to 25k. Although that was a painful surprise we would do it all over again to have the home the way we always wanted.
