Are you going to tile a room in your home? Going to do a little DIY project? in this post I am going to talk about how to cut tiles accurately.
The factors for an accurate cut
There are a number of factors that dictate how to cut tiles accurately which include:
- Size of the tile
- Tile material
- The tile cutter
In general, the larger the tile the harder it is to cut it accurately. For large and for small tiles (mosaic for example) it is important that you use the right cutter. Tile cutters electric types are the best to cut tiles accurately.
Electric tile cutters are powerful and deliver accurate cuts provided you use the proper blade. You can cut large format tiles easily with an electric tile cutter with less risk of discrepancies that you would have with a manual cutter.
How to cut accurately
First you need to measure the area that needs to be tiled. The next step is to measure the tile that needs to be cut. The tile should be marked at both ends with a pencil or other non permenant marking tool.
If you are using an electric tiling tool, you will need to align the tiles and proceed to cut them. If the blade is new, you should find you will get a really good result.
You can get accurate results using a manual tile cutter, however, this will take a lot more time to do and you risk more tile breaks.
