Philly Heart Walk, November 2nd Make a difference!

Every year I participate with my broker, Long & Foster in the Philly Heart Walk. Last year I combined my camino and the heart walk to raise funds.

This year I am only walking in Philadelphia. This is your chance to make a difference by making a donation to the American Heart Association, Philly Heart Walk, November 2nd at Citizens Bank Park. I was shocked at how many people suffer and die from heart disease in the US.

I have formed a team, the "Devon Doers" to raise funds for the American Heart Association, most funds stay local, you can give to my team using our team page. I seem to have left it late this year, so am asking everyone I know if they can please make a donation to help me out. I set a low goal, unusual for me, but it can always be adjusted upward as funds come in.

I have always supported this as my Dad died of a heart attack when I was about 23 and I had to step in and run the London end of our family business. My oldest son had just been born a matter of weeks before and my brother was getting married in the US the night my Dad died. A very eventful time and the year following was a time of growing up.

So, I realize how heart disease can impact a family and feel that our support can help prevent unnecessary deaths. So, please take a moment and make a small donation to help eradicate heart disease.

Thanks in advance. I appreciate the support of my Active Rain family as I know you all do so much for your own communities already.

Barbara Todaro I need to get back into routine, with my radiation treatment I have not been walking as much, but yes, this is not hard.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel thank you, it is always good to walk, in the forest, in the park or along the seashore, anywhere that helps you to relax and enjoy life. And afterwards one can always run into Philly for a cheesesteak.

Hi Nick -- Just donated; thanks for doing what you are doing. My father, too, died of a heart attack when he was in his 50s; one brother has had bypass surgies, stents, a heart attack, etc but is going strong. I'm all for advances in treatment, care and prevention.

Hi Nick... a very worthy cause to support. As with cancer, these days it's hard to find someone who hasn't been touched by heart disease.

Hello Nick - with a family history of heart disease, I understand the importance of such events as they continue to keep awareness front and center.

Sally K. & David L. Hanson like Nina Hollander said below like cancer heart disease has touched most families in one way or another. I think this is the last year we as a company will be supporting the heart walk, and we are moving over to be more involved in the Easter Seals.

It seems everyone has a story, personally or within the family of heart disease Michael Jacobs

Joan Cox there are heart walks in most major cities I believe. And yes, it is a good cause to be associated with as most people know someone affected by heart disease.

That is certainly a worthy cause and I hope plenty of money will be raised.  My Dad has had heart issues over the years as well.
