If you are not taking in the Halloween Festivities this weekend there is another unique event happening in Aurora. This is a yearly event that is put on by the Aurora Police Department and the DEA, called the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This is all done to provide the citizens of Aurora a safe, secure and anonymous way to clean out their medicine cabinets and return every prescription medication that has been unused or expired.   Unused medication must always be safely disposed of. There are many risks involved with simply flushing down the toilet, throwing away the medication and disposing in a non-sanctioned way. Bringing your unused and expired medication to this event will prevent drug abuse or theft and can help save lives. It will also protect the environment by not allowing flushes medication to affect the water supply. This Saturday October 26 from 10:00am to 2:00pm will be the moment you can utilize these services. There are three locations in Aurora that will be facilitating this event. The Pickens Technical College, The Medical Center of Aurora, North Parking Lot and the Saddle Rock ER. Look up these locations on your favorite gaps of choice. In addition, the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus has a collection site in Aurora. This is located on the south side of Building 500. If you are not able to visit Aurora, there are alternate drop off centers in neighboring parts of town. Check out DEATakeback.com to see where else you may be able to properly dispose of unused or expired medications.
