2020 Is Not Only The Year To Soar With Business But With Health Too

The one topic that’s most important to me is health. I think once we hit an important milestone with age, we take a step back and think seriously about how many years we have in front of us!

My awakening happened 7 years ago, and let’s fast forward to the year 2020. I’ve become a fixture at the YMCA weight room, and I’m there every day when it opens. During the week, that’s 5:00am. I have a routine I complete every day.

Of course, I complement that workout with a very healthy way of eating. How we workout in the kitchen is more important that what we do at the gym. It all begins with how and what we eat.

I eat very clean. I make my own beef and chicken broth. I also make a broth with bones from beef, chicken and pork. I follow a program of Intermittent Fasting (IF.) My window for eating is from 11:00am to 5:00pm. That’s a 6 hour window for two meals and a snack of 2 sugar free popsicles.

I drink water when I’m thirsty; coffee when I have a craving for it; and I begin every day with a cappuccino after my workout. It’s a habit that keeps me going!

Real estate is a stressful business. One of the best methods for stress relief is strength training.  It requires focus and discipline to complete a set of lifting. Focus prevents accidents! Focus clears your mind so you think of nothing other than what you are doing with the bar you have your hands wrapped around.

Everyone needs a healthy stress relief. Whether it is yoga, stretching, spin classes, Zumba or a number of other activities, participate and save your health.  The stress will kill you, sooner or later!

At 73, I’m on no meds; eat clean; exercise daily and am able to think clearly (thus far!) My mother has dementia at 97, but she’s healthy, even at 200 pounds. I think about that often, and hopefully eating in a healthy fashion, while maintaining a small body frame, will help dodge that bullet.

Today’s the 3rd day of the “year that roars”….let it blare in the gym and the kitchen…you’ll find your business following suit when you feel and look healthy!!

Morning Barbara.

I eat two meals a day.  An early lunch. dinner and that's it.  Hardly ever do I eat after 6PM.  One cup of coffee in the morning and water after that.  I've kept the weight off for 9 years now and counting.

Deepak Chauhan it's actually a good way to eat.... no one needs 3 meals a day....and eating clean is the BEST....I haven't eaten grain in 7 years.... so this IF program is ideal for me....it's not difficult.

Kathy Streib our bodies get use to it and if it's not happening, your body will tell you....

Bob Crane yes....everyone has some type of stress in life....that's where finding the right activity comes into play..... weight training is not for everyone.... but there's SOMETHING for everyone....

Lottie Kendall staying healthy is up to the individual...no one else can pinch hit for you....

Debe Maxwell, CRS I'd bet that it's the IF that keeps your son in good shape....one can go to the gym every day and workout vigorously, but if they don't eat properly, it's for nothing.... one must go with the other.... they complement each other.... IF can be done less intense than what I'm doing.... one could do an 8 hour window every other day with 16 hours of fasting.... pick the 8 window....it can be whatever works for you.... but NO GRAIN.... eat clean.... and most importantly, COUNT CALORIES.... if one could get through one day, there could be 2 days consecutively.... eventually the days will be EVERY DAY.

Will Hamm working out every day and eating clean are both part of my normal way of living.... I don't even think about either one anymore....

We are doing a bone broth cleanse right now, Barbara.  Love bone broth and also the intermittent fasting does work. We do both. Although, we didn't during the holidays - so back at it. It feels so good. Also, still need to commit to the weight training - this is the year. You are so damn inspiring. Thank you.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD I love IF and my workouts are so much better when I feel strong and healthy from eating the IF way.... I always ate clean....no grain for 7 years...NONE... so IF is not difficult for me.... 

I love to hear it when women do weight training.... dodge that osteo bullet.... cover those bones with lean muscle....

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD if your testing resulted in a diagnosis of osteopenia that's a Blessing that you were tested....NOW you should be doing strength training and building lean muscle.... osteopenia is reversible.... osteoporosis is not.... I hired a trainer to get started and kept her for 4 years....now I know enough to start others just as she did with me..... and I do.... but I would hire a trainer and make sure you're eating properly to gain lean muscle....you won't be bulky.... you'll be defined and have lean muscle not massive.... it's the muscle surrounding the bone that helps with osteo....it's recommended that resistance training.... weight lifting... weight machines be used regularly....

Hello Barbara - it's wise to say what happens in the kitchen is as important(or more important) than what takes place at the gym.  That kind of "total" commitment is telling.  And it's not just telling...it's definitely "roaring".

how we eat is MOST important..... there are people who do not workout and are not fat... they should be doing cardio for their heart health....eating right and walking is a win-win....
