1 Cup unsalted butter or margarine
¾ Cup packed light brown sugar
1 Tsp vanilla
2 Eggs
2-¼ Cups all-purpose flour
2 Cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned rolled oats uncooked
1 tsp baking soda
1 Tsp ground cinnamon
¼ Tsp ground nutmeg
1 Cup raisins
2 Cups semisweet chocolate morsels
In a large mising bowl with an electric mixer beat butter and brown sugar until light and smooth. Add vanilla; beat well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
In another bowl, combine flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add flour mixture to butter mixture; blend well. Fold in raisins and chocolate morsels. Mix thoroughly. At this point the mixture will be VERY thick, you will need a very strong hand or mixer to do this. (The first time I made this my *cheap* mixer burnt out).
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake in a preheated 375° oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Transfer to racks to cool.
Enjoy.
