After closing... the thank you.

By
Real Estate Agent with Luxury Texas Living

I have a huge question... what do you do after closing???    Do you present your new buyer a hand written note, a plant, a gift card, bottle of champagne or something else?    What about your seller's once their house has closed?

I'm not sure what to do and knew I could ask on Active Rain!!!

Thank you all in advance... I will compile them all into a new blog entry too.

I have one that is closing and I am going to get them a gift for their home as soon as they move in. I also created a link with a virtual tour of their new home (with photos and address, etc) and sent ti them and they can send it to their friends.

I have scheduled  formal lobster dinners to be delivered to my clients on the Friday night following the closing as a welcome home gift.

the dinners are sent overnight from a place in Maine on dry ice and include all the trimmings.

Everyone that has gotten these dinners are pleasantly surprised and extremely appreciative.

have a great week-end,

I like that lobster dinner idea!  I usually send them a thank you card and inside explain the Housewarming Party I will be having for them on a date of their choosing.

My personal favorite is a professionally done pen-and-ink drawing I've commissioned after the contract has gone unconditional. Of course, this is a little on the pricey side, so it's not for every buyer.

For Sellers? These days, they should gladly GIVE ME a closing gift!

Sorry Stacey - Of course, the pen-and-ink drawing is of the house they're buying!! And it had better have a decent little frame on it, too  -  Walter

I do a gift certificate from Lowes and also sign them up for discounts at Lowes.  They have a great program for real estate agents.

I have did several different things - plants, gift cards, and sometimes just a "thank you" and they are fine with it.

I always send them a hand written "welcome to your new home" card. I match the kind of gift I give with their type/personality. Outgoing type = dinner, etc but usually send edible arrangements. I also send a thank you to all the parties (lender, other agent, title company) involved in the transaction either by email or with a personalised, hand-written thank you card.buni
