"Your premium brand had better be delivering
something special, or its not going to get the business."

The Tuesday Edition with Patricia Feager
My trip to the Tulip Farm in Pilot Point this past weekend planted seeds about the beauty of planting a bulb in August and waiting until Spring to get the results. This one to my left is a Tulip I picked that just simply makes me happy because of the colors. This one looks so innocent to me, like the birth of spring, a season of renewal, or the beginning of something new.
As my mind often travels, I had an interrupted thought Monday evening about the power of something new that develops over time, and the labels put on brands because of the year a brand was developed.
What triggered the thoughts in my mind was sudden recall about the year HGTV and House Hunters started on TV. After doing my research, HGTV began on December 30, 1994 and House Hunters on October 7, 1999. Although those dates seem so long ago, it was the beginning of the Millennial generation born in between 1981 and 1996. And then I had a eureka moment, the results of that generation are the Millennials today who are now or will be buying houses. They are also the Millennials today who are beginning to or who have already achieved great success in business, self-made millionaires, or entrepreneurs. And what year did "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire begin? It premiered in August 1999.
Who isn't amazed at the beauty of something newly born and wonders what effect this newborn will take later on in life. To think, I was part of the generation watching I Love Lucy while today's Millennials were already being groomed and branded into the ideas of home buying, home improvements, learning while watching TV shows like House Hunters since the time they were born. TV does have an impact on viewers. The seeds are planted in young minds and spans over the spectrum of time into life's continuous expectations passed down from one generation to the next. I now understand why so many Millenials and people who aren't educated in the business of real estate think HGTV and House Hunters is the way our business is run.
I leave you with this thought. Mark Zuckerberg, born May 14, 1984 tops the richest Millennials. I checked out other Millennials and there is a common thread - technology. Now go back to the quote at the top of this post and realize that Warren Buffett was born on 8/30/1930. His quote was spot on.That gives me hope, how about you? --- Patricia Feager
