So much conflicting information.. so, I asked myself can I safely still List, show and sell Real Estate? It is day by day. Client by client. Staying 6 feet away. Taking seperate cars. But would this work in real life?
Saturday's during the Spring Real Estate market would normally have me listing 1-2 homes, showing 8-10 homes and writing at least a few offers. Yesterday saw no new listings, no offers but did include some inquiries about should a couple of sellers list now or wait. Then came the call to show a big listing near the Ocean. They were in NH for the afternoon so there was no tomorrow. Asking the "new" standard questions if anyone sick or had traveled to an affected area, gave me a little comfort, but kept me cautious.
On a warm Saturday afternoon, Hampton Beach was packed with people happy to get out of their homes. The ride there I beat myself up worrying how to keep them 6 feet away. How to not touch anything and how to still sell the home... I arrived a little early and they were not far behind. The greeting was short and at a distance without the normal hand shake introduction. I lead the way and without asking, they stayed 6 feet behind. They were as nervous as i was.
OH NO, cats. I am allergic. What if I sneeze? Will they run? We made our way through the home. Wrapping up in the dining room we each took up a spot standing on separate sides of the table. They asked questions and i answered them. They did not bring the kids as it was the right thing to do. I did not have to ask. They asked to facetime them and be able to walk through the home showing them. It was fine and preferred. They seem very interested. They want to talk Monday about making an offer but was not prepared to make one today.
This is not a new normal. It is temporary, but for how long? Best case 4-6 weeks. Most likely June.
IN THE END, it went well. No one was at risk. We all balanced up and down the stairs without touching the hand rails. The buyer brought their own small towel to open doors and cabinets. I had mine ready in my pocket and the nervousness of how to ask them to use it, was wiped out by them knowing to do it.
THE BOTTOM LINE is to know how important it is that every Buyer or Seller should not just choose any agent, choose the BEST agent for the job. Having an agent that works for you is a must. Support your local businesses.
My philosophy is simple, provide more personal and professional service to guide my clients through each step of the buying or selling process. All Agents are not created equal and every buyer or seller should take the time to hire the BEST not just the biggest. Those that hire me, find a dedication like no other.
