You need to stay healthy while deskbound all day. Many of us, whether working from home or now returned to the office, you might be in a position where you need to sit all day. In Highlands Ranch property management, there are many days where you are chained to your desk, without being able to leave for a drink of water. If this is you, or you have done this before, here is what you should do. The best way to make up your healthy habits is to set up an ergonomic workspace. At the office, equipment is set up for you and at home, you will need to put in the extra work. Your chair should allow your spine and thighs to be parallel to the floor when your feet are planted at the ground. Desk and keyboard should be positioned such that your hands are at or just below the level of your elbows.

You need to remember to take breaks as well. Research has shown that rather than stretching your mind and body to your limits, you will be most productive if you take a short break approximately every hour. Your mental energy may feel separate from your body, but the exhaustion of nonstop work will cause a physical exhaustion.

Moving around is a must for the workday. Even with everything set up optimally, sitting for long periods of the day is not great for your health or for your spine. Try to get up and use each opportunity to take a quick walk around the office. Take a short walk to the drinking fountain. Try standing or pacing during phone conversations and you might also want to schedule regular breaks. You may have heard of describes as well. This can be anything from stress balls to increase grip strength, under desk wheelies, and then handheld dumbbells or even if you are extreme, a pull up bar behind your door.

Do not forget your eyes at all, because we all know staring at a screen all day is bad. There is a proven method, the 20-20-20 method, every twenty minutes take twenty seconds to look at something twenty feet away from you. Make sure you are sitting at least arm’s length away from your camp[yet. If you want to go the extra mile, you need to wear the blue light glasses. You will notice a difference and will not be able to go back. Blue light filters on your phone are a good habit to have as well.

It is easy to get focused on working through a to do list, and a ten-minute break can seem like a forgone conclusion. If you are plugged into your work hours can pass by without notice, that is why building routines setting reminders and strategy around your areas of weakness are all so crucial. You never have to sacrifice your health to succeed,
