You Don't Have To Be Better Than Everyone Else . . . .
“ I don't believe you have to be better than everybody else. I believe you have to be better than you ever thought you could be. ” |
~Ken Venturi |
We are all competitive in some way or another. We should all strive to be better, but not better than everyone else.
We all have our own strengths and weaknesses, which we can always become better in. Nobody is perfect, which means you will never be the best over everybody. You can only get better. Therefore, aim for the best you personally can be.
I volunteer with youth groups in the horse community and coach them at horse shows. The youth are always out for that first place ribbon. I instead inform them to go out there and have fun and not worry about getting the ribbon. As long as they did their personal best, that is what counts. Plus, just having the courage to go into the arena and compete makes them winners.
So go ahead an be competitive, but know that you are to set your own goals and be the best that YOU can be. Do not judge yourself by others standards. None of us are perfect.
Go out there and be the absolute best you can be!
