On November 16, 2021, National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI) for newly built single family homes up three points to 83 points in November of 2021 from 80 points in October of 2021.
The HMI component charting present sales conditions gained three points to 89 points, the HMI buyer traffic rose three points to 68 points, and the HMI sales expectations index unchanged zero points to 84 points in November of 2021.
The three-month moving averages for regional HMI scores, South increased four points at 84 points, the West up one point at 84 points, Northeast declined two points at 70 points, Midwest grew four points to 72 points in November of 2021.
NAHB Chief Economist Robert Dietz, stated “Lot availability is at multi-decade lows and the construction industry currently has more than 330,000 open positions. Policymakers need to focus on resolving these issues to help builders produce more housing to meet strong market demand.”
