Our mastermind yesterday morning, focused on compassion, as opposed to kindness. Compassion is understanding that we are all interconnected. Kindness is action oriented and is generated from the feeling of compassion.
Our discussion was brought about because we had heard and read of people who are presuming that all things Russian past and present are evil and should be censored and stopped.
This is happening in our country, and in Canada in the name of political correctness. How insane is that?
The Swan Lake Ballet can no longer be performed because it was written by a Russian? Russian art should be removed from the museums?
Books written by Dostoevsky or Tolstoy should be censored? Never mind, that they are considered some of the greatest writers in the world!
These actions are not going to end the conflict of war between Russia and the Ukraine. They just emphasize the lack of compassion and understanding that we as the onlookers have.
It has nothing to do with damning someone's culture and art! That is not a solution to ending a war.
"Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive."
~Dalai Lama
“One can overcome the forces of negative emotions, like anger and hatred, by cultivating their counter forces, like love and compassion.”
~Dalai Lama
"Compassion is the desire that moves the individual self to widen the scope of its self-concern to embrace the whole of the universal self."
~ Arnold Toynbee
“True compassion does not come from wanting to help out those less fortunate than ourselves but from realizing our kinship with all beings.”
~Pema Chödrön
“Our task must be to free ourselves… by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
~Albert Einstein
We wish you all a wonderful Monday!
