"Too often we underestimate
the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word,
a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the
smallest act of caring, all of which have the
potential to turn a life around."
--Leo Buscaglia
The book of LOVE by Leo Buscaglia has been a part of my collection of books since 1972. Fifty years has gone by quickly, but the ideology taught by a Professor of education at the University of Southern, California, a native Californian, a beloved speaker and author is as refreshing and rejuvenating today as it was the day it was published.
As I touched the daisy in my garden a bee buzzed by but it did not sting. Perhaps we were both in need of understanding the Law of Attraction, based on the theory that we create our world through our thoughts and that what you focus on is what you get or create for yourself.
Sure, I could throw this book out and replace it with a new copy, but would I do a disservice to myself because the words are the same and the only thing that changed are the images and ideas over time? I am reminded in 2022, day in and day out, about the landmark decision made on January 22, 1973 on Roe vs. Wade, 410 U.S. 113. It was April of that year I discovered I was pregnant. Abortion never entered my mind. The political system that Buscaglia preached back then is still broken and corrupt. The most human thing a human can do is bring the life of a child into this world and see it smile and help it grow up. A daisy, like a baby is a welcoming creation and they deserve a chance to live in a peaceful world where they can multiple, and where there is love, and there is hope for future generations.
