Some called it "revenge travel", the international car collectors once more showed up by the thousands for the Monterey Peninsula's annual "car week" held in August of each year. Automotive events culminate with the Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance. From 200 of the most collected cars in the world to the latest and greatest cars including concept cars, were shipped from 21 countries to participate this year. It was estimated that 85,000 admirers came from around the globe in 2022 bringing millions into the local economy.
Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance 2022 "Best of Show" winner was the 1932 Duesenberg J Figoni Sports Torpedo shown by Lee R. Anderson Sr.
Above, couldn't resist having my photo taken with this Maserati beauty during The Quail, the ultra luxe party held on the golf course at the Quail Lodge. & Golf Club.
Real estate, as well, gains from this week because a large percentage of those who come also look at the fabulous homes for sale in our beautiful oceanfront community, with many being purchased as second homes by this international crowd. The one everyone was looking at this year was "The Butterfly House", oceanfront on Scenic Drive in Carmel currently for sale at $40,000,000. Recently Brad Pitt purchased another $40M home at the ocean near the Highlands, and Betty White's home in Carmel was sold for $3M over asking price.
Pebble Beach has about 30 homes for sale in the $3M-$30M range, purchased for a variety of reasons such as the excellent golf courses and closeness to Carmel-by-the-Sea (where homes sell for about $3.5M and up) with its many restaurants, boutiques and art galleries. Yes, I will be delighted to help you find your dream home here on the Monterey Peninsula whether it will be your first, second or third home. And, while looking, we can sample some of the excellent wines in its 20 wine tasting rooms, or coffees in outstanding bakeries. Just call me, no obligation.
Above, saw three McLaren automobiles making their way up Ocean Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Throughout the week, people line the street to watch some of the most awesome cars drive by or park, like the pink Porsche. They drop by from various car shows being held around the Monterey Peninsula to see and be seen. And some just come to strut their car's stuff and be admired.
