The only competition we have is ourselves, and gracefulness and compliments of other brokers is the key

I do a lot of cold calling and it just seems to me that I am seeing a parting of styles. After all, there is always plenty of business for all who work hard. I really like it when I get feedback from a consumer saying that another Broker was saying very nice things about me, and really acted in a classy position.

ON the other hand it some times becomes a battle where some Brokers cannot get a long and must go to the extremes of putting someone down, or saying something false that is really not going to get them anywhere. IN fact, it can backfire on them.

I love people, I totally enjoy what I do, and I will put others first, but I just cannot help but noticing some people acting in desperation when it is incredibly visible. It reminds me of a simple song I used to listen to about a battle for sunlight with trees. The song is by one of my favorite Canadian bands Rush. It may be almost 30 years old but the video still gets the point across.

IT really is a matter of the Golden Rule.

Tom, I find that most agents conduct their business in an agreeable manner but I can think of a couple of agents that I hope I never have to work with again. :-)

Tombo,

Geddy Lee would be quietly happy to see you using this song as an analogy. He once said "Sometimes it's nice to have a song that can be taken more then one way, so it can be interpreted differently."

I remember the 'The Trees' video and song being one of my favourites at last month's concert....that one and 'The Way the Wind Blows'. Particularly this verse:

"We can only grow the way the wind blows
on a bare and weathered shore
We can only bow to the here and now
In our elemental war"

The concert was at the Molson Amphitheatre on the shores of Lake Ontario and right when Geddy began singing this song, the wind picked up and rushed through the crowd. It was ... well, you know what I mean.

That's what life is all about.

I know what you mean. The other day I was worrying about working too hard and then I heard that Rush song "Working them angels" That made my mind up.
