The King's English

By
Real Estate Agent with Sky Realty

English is a difficult language to master (most of us never do). Writing well is also difficult. Take this statement in an email my wife received recently about the death of a former high school teacher of hers. The author wrote that the teacher "told them that JFK was killed in the halls of KHS." We picked up quickly on the error. Another recipient of the email was quick to set the record straight: "She lied! JFK was killed in Dallas!"

Though we had a laugh over the phrasing, the sentence brings back memories of that day -- November 22, 1963. I happened to be in the library of Dayton (TX) High School when the announcement was made over the intercom. That was a dark day in the life of our nation!

I was checking into my college dorm when I heard it. I was crushed. I truly admired Kennedy and I know he would have done great things for our country.

I am a bit younger than you but I too remember that day well.  It was morning in Hawaii.  My dad was military and my second grade teacher came in and told us that the President of the United States had been shot.  My first thought was, "Oh no, my Daddy's going to war."  Then I was upset that cartoons were not being shown.

I do remember watching on a small black and white television the horse drawn carraige.

Just like the twin towers, I am sure most everyone will remember where they were that morning of 911.
