Whether you're a newcomer to Fairfax County or you've lived here all your life, you're sure to find the Fairfax County's My Neighborhood web site a wealth of valuable information.  It's a mapping and information reporting application that provides you with information specific to your neighborhood.  Just enter your address and find out almost everything you need to know about what's around you.

The General Information view tells you where the closest police station, fire station and hospitals are located, school boundaries, names of local elected officials, your polling location and much more.  You can view several different types of maps, including topographic and aerial - it will even show you the watershed in which your home is located!

The Parks View allows you to query the Park Registry database to locate the closest park with the amenities you want.  Specify amenities such as nature centers, trails, athletic fields - even boat launches and golf facilities!  You can also search by the park name to find out what amenities are available.

The Demographics view provides maps showing population, median housing costs, age (people and houses!), income and more.

Finally, there's a Police Incidents view that shows information from actual 911 calls made to the Department of Public Safety's Communication Center.  You can search for incidents during a specific time period within a certain radius of your home.  (Note:  you must read and accept a disclaimer regarding the accuracy of the information before you can access this view.)

Check out this great web site and let me know what you think!
