Obama and "the tour".

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Fort Lauderdale Beach

How did you all feel about Obama's tours and speeches last week?

Do you think this has pushed him up in the rankings? After all, after tonight he's at 49% and my buddy McCain is hovering at 40%.

Did this help him in the polls?

What did it do to John McCain?

An agent told me yesterday, that if Obama win's the Presidency, in his opinion we will have about 6 month's of a frenzie and then reality will set in, taxes will soar, and we'll have another type of Real Estate to deal with.  This is a 30 year seasoned agent speaking to me.

How do you feel?  Will the real estate arena change to yet another way of buying and selling?

As for the troops, I'm not sure how they all feel now that Obama didn't stop and visit them...I agree with Missy and Tony who have friends and family in the military, it feels like it's time to get out in some parts of the war...Then again, those decisions should be left to the 5 star Generals that are right there dealing with the war day in and day out. IMHO.

So far, I'm hearing whole lot of political rhetoric. People are sticking to their parties because of party loyalties....I'll wait for the debates.

Vanessa,

It's a difficult time...Obama does not have much experience...2 years as a Senator...while he keep's talking about "change", I'd like to see what policies he has in mind...and the details..

McCain, while not trying to make promises that he can't keep and who doesn't have the personality, sure as heck know's what it is to be a POW, know's and has serviced his country and has been a senator for a long time...

Personality vs. experience...I don't care if McCain has a personality or not...I want someone that has experience. JMHO.

Karen ~

USA Today/Gallop has McCain up by four points today and has been more accurate than most in their predictions, but there is still a long way to go.

Hopefully, there is a change in this nation's opinion of the elitist liberal snobbery of Obama and his cronies.

I don't think any hearts and minds (or votes) are going to be changed by this question. I believe most have already made up their minds who they're voting for.

The choices are: President Obama or President McCain (but don't count President Clinton out yet)

You don't need an experience agent to tell you to look at his liberal thoughts and policy. He will and wants to increase tax's. How in the name of business will any Realtor survive. We all small own business. If your tax bill goes up 15% just to be given away to social programs, what will You have to cut. We need to be careful here. Never mind the thought that Obama does not love America. Everyone needs to vote this election. I will vote with my pocket book in mind. In addition, someone mention about party lines. I would vote for Hillary if she was in the running and I am not a Demo.

Frank,

I don't trust Hillary...she lie's as do the rest, however, blatantly about landing under sniper fire with daughter Chelsea in toe...come on...no secret service agent's would ever allow that to happen...and why didn't anyone remind her that what she aid wasn't true...why she say it 4 times before the media was able to find the footage...and prove her wrong...then the baggage of Bill...and the Lewinsky crap...no way.

What I don't understand is, if Obama is half white and half black, why is he considered a black man and not just another white man...is it because he married a black woman? After all his mother raised him and she was white.

Karen, Good post, obviously heated!

Vanessa, I know you've heard this before but since 9/11 no American citizens have been killed in terrorist attacks on US soil.  The entire point of the war is to keep us safe here.  I thank God everyday that W had the foresight to keep the war there and to keep the terrorist on the defense on their own soil.  Did we make mistakes? Sure, and Obama was fast to point that out last week.  I blackballed the Dixie Chicks forever over much less.

Debt? 1 trillion?  How much would we all pay to keep our children safe?  Quadruple that!

When talking about national security there really isn't a question in anybody's mind who has the most experience and can handle the rest of this war.  McCain can speak from experience in an equally unpopular war.  Obama speaks like a naive high schooler who just wants us all to get along.  There is no diplomacy, or discussion, or friendly debate with people that HATE you and want you dead because you're an American or a Christian or a Jew.  Three women blue up themselves and killed 50 something people yesterday.  How can you have a civil discussion with people like that?

Your point of view is clear Vanessa.  But I think you're going to find that you'll be in the minority in November.  Americans want safety at home before they want to be Global Citizens.

Amy,

Thank you for your point of view. Not to open up another can of worms, but from what I'm hearing, those who are old enough to remember when JFK was shot and saw it on TV, are seriously worried about the state of the economy, our retirement, our savings, the bank situation, keeping our homes... the younger individuals are all about change, they just don't understand that Obama say's change, but doesn't have any steadfast plans as to what or how he's going to change things...

Karen--- I hate to say it but too many people get their ipolitical nformation from partisan blogs of which they dont fact check.

There was a good article about the tax implications of each candidate in the Chicago Sun-Times last month.

Tax plan face off: Obama vs. McCain

WHITE HOUSE RACE | Whoever wins, you'll probably pay less

http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/obama/1031268,CST-NWS-tax30.article

Obama's plan is the raise taxes for those making $250,000 or more. The increase in this bracket will go from 36% to 39%.

If you are reading this and not in this bracket, like 95% of the country, you have nothing to worry today and will actually pay a bit less under his plan.     Of course that plan has to be approved by Congress, should he get elected.

In my opinion, if you are not in this bracket, you should focus on the other issues.

If you havent decided yet, you will get three head to head nationally televised debates and two convention speeches in the next 100 days to help you decide.

Get your information directly from the candidates yourself in these events.

Get a feel of who can best lead us from where we are today and then make up your own mind.

Amy,

Have you heard the one about the anti-tiger rock? I have a rock that keeps tigers away from me so they won't pounce out of the shrubs and sink their teeth into the back of my head. It would be easy to say that I'm full of crap. But I can prove that since carrying this rock, I have not had a single tiger incident.

Yes, I'm being slightly facetious with this Simpsons reference, but that is exactly the point you're making when you say we haven't been attacked since starting the Iraq war. The fact is, terrorists are in the minority, they do not have enough funds or people to attack us to the extent they want to, and any attempt at attacking us since 9/11 has been thwarted due to our intelligence agencies, airport security, and breakups of training camps in Afghanistan -- NOT the war in Iraq. It could be easily shown, and has, that our misguided crusade in Iraq has created more enemies for America.

GWB didn't have our interests in mind when he decided to invade. Instead, he chose to fabricate information and drum up support from millions of Americans who were scared shitless by the possibility of another 9/11 so that he could A) get revenge on Saddam for trying to kill his daddy, B) get exclusive contracts for rebuilding the infrastructure for his and Dick's buddies at Halliburton, C) indulge his sweet tooth for oil, and D) get more bases in the Middle East. The administration lied through its teeth and disregarded and buried information from respected military officers which warned of the possibility of a huge insurgency movement and the risk of civil war.

And it's scary how much of the same thing has been happening with Iran--making them seem like a huge threat, while high ranking CIA officials have specifically told the media otherwise.

Anyway, it's real interesting how horribly mutated this post has become from its original premise... sorry to add to it.

I think Obama is likely to continue in the same vein as he's done for the last 10 years. His record in the Illinios and US senate doesn't show him as a reformer, but a typical politician who avoids controversial issues and rewards the friends who contribute to his campagns.

He is a skilled politician and a charismatic orator and speaks of change, but has't put his money where his mouth is when he had the chance. For an eye-opener, read "The case against Barak Obama" by David Freddoso. It's scary to think about what could happen in this country if Obama becomes president.
