A PCS move is always a stressful time for our military.  There are many things to consider while going through the transition.  Things like when to have your household goods picked up so they will arrive in time at your next station.  You are also wondering about the status of your job, your unit and the family life at this new location.  Another decision that must be made is whether to live on base, rent or buy.  Well, Military OneSource is the one-stop shop to help you through the move.  Their website is full of information to help you make the right decisions based on your family's needs.  The one thing you don't want to do is over-extend yourself financially by living off-post.  The BAH will put you in the right price-range but remember you will still have to pay utilities.  Check out their information page and click through some of the various tabs they have provided.

Latonia, very good blog.  As you know, there are those who enjoy the sense of security involved with living on post as well as the close proximity of facilities.  I for one was never one of those - I wanted to be OFF when I was OFF if that makes sense, plus I wanted my money to work for me, thus purchasing a home was the right move.

Tim, I am dealing with a client who is comfortable renting right now.  I hope to persuade her to purchase with the amount she is willing to pay in rent.  Your wanting to be OFF when you were OFF makes perfect sense to me since the miltary was my first career.  Thanks for your time and comment.
