I love Athens, GA in the summer when it sizzles.

I took my 11 month old daughter Claire to the UGA North Campus today.  I thought we would enjoy the hurricane cool down picnic style.   Claire learned to point recently and she was not content with live oaks and squirrels.  She kept pointing across broad street to downtown.  So we crossed over and took a table at an outdoor cafe and watched the people go by.   The students are back and they streamed by like salmon finding they're way up river.   We sat in the cafe and looked back across at the university.   It's a beautiful ancient campus.   I suppose over in europe there may be a more interesting campus, they have had a few hundred years head start.
I've seen a lot of colleges and I can't think of many that offer a better stroll than UGA.   If you seen downtown athens by car, then you've only seen half of it.   Get out of the car,  walk through the arch and don't stop going until you get to the Ila Dunlap Library.   On your way back to town, if you love a Demosthenian, you might stop and pee on Phi Kappa Hall.

I have also spent time in Athens, Loganville, and Snellville. They are beautiful cities. Your daughter is fortunate to have you be so aware of these new attractions.

Great, great town.  My daughter graduated from UGA in May.  I've spent a lot of time in Athens the past four years.  Gonna miss her being in Athens.  So many great restaurants, beautiful campus, and great football!
