Are you Dreaming?

By

"When memories exceed dreams, the end is near." I heard this quote over the weekend and it really had an impact on me. I apologize to you that I do not know to whom to credit the quote. I actually did some digging to try to find the author, but had no luck.

I think of an image of older people who are confined by the limits of the bodies. What do they do? They reminisce. I am not saying that is a bad thing, just a fact. They instinctively know that the end is near. Contrast that image with someone who is trying something new. Recently I read about an ocotgenarian who had run his first marathon. He had dreams. Olympians such as Dara Torres and Laura Wilkerson had dreams. They did not rest on their laurels and think about the years they HAD participated; they made it happen again.

What are your dreams? Are you living in a real estate world that was all boom thinking about the good old days. I urge you to dream. Dream about your short and long term goals and then work to make them happen. Unless you want the end to be near (and maybe some of you do), DREAM BIG. Make it happen.

I dream, and then plan and execute each day.  If we don't know where we want to go or where we've come from, how will we know when get there.  Thank you for the reminder.

Without dreaming and having goals, life can seem dull and hopeless. This is an insightful quote. Thank you for repeating it.

Great reminder. It is important to note, as previously mentioned, that dreaming alone isn't going to do it. We have to prepare a plan, and then work to make it happen. Thanks again for a great thought to start the week.

Hi Carol, I think that dreaming is so important and is a great thing for your mind. Also I structure my life so that when I am old & grey, I can sit in my rocking chair and have very few regrets. Thanks for the post.

Carol,

The quote that you mentioned: "When memories exceed dreams, the end is near" can be located in "The World is Flat" by Thomas L. Friedman, it can be found in the final chapter.

Thank you for the post and I hope all of your dreams are Sweet Dreams...

Carol,

I used to think that talent and experience would take care of the future.....I was wrong.  Planning and seeing where it is you want to be is the key.

Hi Carol, Short but powerful thought provoking post that should be thought about seriously.  I believe in dream...but I also believe ...that dreams need to be put into action.  If they are not put into action ...those dreams only become wishful thinking.  Now I think " The Secret" inspired those thoughts ( although I am not sure because I read all the motivation and inspirational books I can get my hands on...cause they work....
