Have you audited your insurance lately????

Well folks,  I had been with he same homeowners and auto insurance for almost 10 years.  I switched to them when my son (who will be 26 this month) got his driver's license because they were cheaper.  I decided to check on rate plans to see if I could save a little money this year.  Imagine my surprise when there is $700 difference!!!!  I don't have a clue how long I have been overpaying for insurance, but rest assured that I will check once a year now.  I always tell my home buyers to check around on their coverage, guess I need to heed my own words.

Makes me wonder what else I am overpaying on......

I changed my auto insurance last year.  We were paying 1778.00 for 4 vehicles and two drivers for 6 months.  I went online to AIG and it was 550.00 for the coverage, though I did increase some of the benefits.  However, now a year later, AIG has sent me a renewal, 6 months, is now 968.00.  Time to look back on the internet!

It's a Good Life!

Is that kind of like bait and switch???  Get you there and the sell you something more expensive.  Oh well, keep on shopping.  It definitely pays!

Hey Earleene, good post about the insurance.  I had to do the same thing with my homeowners last year and it turned out I could not save any money.  I guess home insurance has just gotten higher....See you next week at the Convention....

I shop around once a year and I can tell you every year except this year, I have been able to find a better deal as they compete for my business.

Good post, Earleene. I've been with Geico for a long while now, and time and time again have proved to my friends and family that nobody can beat them. I determine if there are any needless additions to the policy or unreasonable charges for excessive payment limits, such as medical or property damage, and lower or remove them if they're not needed. Raising the deductible lowers the policy cost.

Todd,

That is a smart idea.  I think I will start making that an annual  "to do" to add to my list.

David - I have not tried Geico.  My son has them though and he has been really satisfied with them.

I've been with the same insurer for years.  I like their level of service and the manner in which they conduct business.  Filing a claim has never been a hassle and I am able to connect with my agent whenever I have a question.

Hate to admit it but whenever I try to read any insurance policy, I fall asleep. Bet I am over paying too! Been with my company forever.

JON - I understand completely. I live in small town USA so know most of the insurance agents.  I got quotes from the ones I have had good experiences with thru real estate.  That is one advantage of this career...you get a chance to see how they interact with their customers.

MARY- I am the same way.  I have not ever read my policy all the way thru.  I had been with my company for many years and it was the cheapest when I took out the policy with them.  It never hurts to check.
