Baseball in MA the home of the World Series Champion RedSox is HUGE. I am a baseball fan and have been since childhood. I have over the years used my love for baseball as a branding item. I am a season ticket holder to the triple A affiliate of the Redsox which is the Pawsox and they play in Pawtucket RI. I use my pair of second row seats as a way to thank my clients, business partners and prospects. Again we all must invest in our business. I believe the more fun we have the better results we get. My clients have raved about the stadium and the seats. This is a very inexpensive way to thank people. In the end for the two seats it costs 16 per game for both. Many clients have commented that they have been to 40 + games at many ballparks across the country and never sat so close to the field.

As a child I spent the majority of the first two years of my life at children's hospital in Boston. As a young adult I was blessed during my accounting career to work at a local TV station that did a HUGE fundraiser for the Hospital it was an annual telethon. I was able to work on the event for several years in my early 20's while I was working at the station. I also was blessed to be a big brother in the big brother big sister organization in my early 20's. These two things built an inner love for helping non for profits. Often in my blogs I talk about the freedom that the mortgage industry allows me. This is a freedom I did not have while I was in Corp. America. Well I have over the last 5+ years been able to help many local small non for profits with everything from fund-raising to awareness to getting people to attend their events. In the end it is great to be able to do things that you love and that can have an impact on others. At the same time in the end you are building a personal brand.

Many times when meeting someone for the first time they will say "Hey your the guy that donated the signed sports photo of that Patriots player for xyz event". The other thing I hear often is wow you really seem to enjoy helping others I would like to talk to you about a cause that I work on and maybe you can give me some help or ideas.

In the end it is good to be known for things that you love to do. To many people do things ONLY to get their name out for marketing. I must say in the long run people see through that. You must do what you love and when you do it will brand you at the same time. Please do read the rest of my blogs. Also if you ever need mortgage advise for MA please do not hesitate calling me.

Edward, you make some good points in your blog tonight.  At our office we do a lot of work with the MDA, but you're right anyone can make a name stand out, a chosen few can make a difference!

Your right. If you don't love it, it always shows thru in the work you do. Life is too short not to enjoy what you do.

Ed I think it is great that you give back to others in the community. This is the type of thing that people never forget.

Bill,

Thanks so much for your comment. I am blessed to be able to help others. I have found that our children learn from watching us so the key to our legacy is doing the right things even when they may not make sense to others.
