I have a clipping of an article tacked to the bulletin board above my desk. I believe it's from the Missouri Realtor Magazine that came out right before the MAR Convention & Expo. It told about the feature presentation that would be presented by Mike Schlappi. Mr Schlappi, who was paralyzed from the waist down in a childhood accident, went on to become a two-time Gold Medalist, World Champion, author, businseeman, husband and father of five. He earned an MBA, authored two successful books - about success - was a member of the Board of Trustees for the 2002 Olympic Games, and was honored in Utah at a Top 50 Athlete of the Century. What's amazing is that he accomplished all of this sitting down. Mr Schlappi understands the need for constant energy and consistent focus. His personal philosophy is "If you can't stand up, stand out."
The clipping went on to say that the entertaining and inspirational presentation would give the attendee a heavy dose of "Attitude Therapy." It would also teach the attendee how to take responsibility for their life and actions, how to love oneself from the inside out, and how to motivate oneself and light the fire within.
Unfortunately, I did not attend the presentation. I wish I had. What an amazing man. To have so much going against you, but to persevere and succeed on so many levels as this man, is truly amazing. What a difference "attitude" makes. After reading about Mr Schlappi, I know I have no reason to complain about anything in my life. If there is something lacking or not as I wish, I have the power to change it. I try to read this clipping daily, and get my dose of "Attitude Adjustment."
