The pie is getter bigger once again

Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty

As the market continues to cool in the northern Virginia area, the over abundance of active licensed agents is finally starting to dwindle back down to more acceptable ratios. With the real estate boom of the last few years it seemed as if anyone who could breath was getting licensed and our profession was getting a bad reputation with many buyers and sellers. Too many agents had no training at all and too many had no ethical standards either. Along with these less than professional realtors came the use of many fly by night loan brokers. These same loan brokers are responsible for many of the now defaulting exotic mortgages in our market. These unscrupulous lenders are now paying the piper and going out of business. I wish no ill will on anyone but it is nice to see dedicated real professionals continue on, and all the non-professionals drop off. Their absence only makes for a bigger slice of the pie for the true professionals.
