Do you like Junk Mail?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Bell - Windermere Peninsula Properties

This post was inspired by Konnie McKee. Thanks for the idea. I hope this will be the helpful guide you were looking for.

Do you think that there is a junk mail a problem in the United States?

Here is the math...

  • Mailed: 5.56 million tons
  • Recycled: 1.23 million tons (22%)
  • Garbage: 4.33 million tons

Nearly 32 pounds of paper and plastic go into the garbage for every woman, man and child in America. That's a pretty sizable "junk mail" problem!

If you are tired of getting junk mail, there is something that you can do about it. The following is an option. I also have a link to a site with more helpful suggestions.

Register your address with the Direct Marketing Association (DMA). The DMA has a Mail Preference Service. You can get off many of the mailing lists and substantially reduce your junk mail.

This is link to a site to help you do it yourself.

Richard, back in the early 80's in upstate NY there was a guy that used to get on every mailing list he could.  He had a paper rolling machine that created paper logs for his wood stove and he heated his house for free---all courtesy of the US Mail:)

I hate junk mail but I think the post office loves it.  I believe it keeps them in business.

Love the idea, but could not find any area to submit an address on the link.  If it is there it is not easy to find as I went several pages in before throwing in the towel.........
