If you haven't yet discoverd Don Miguel Ruiz's The Four Agreements, you are in for a treat when you do.

The suggestions for right living couldn't be simpler. Founded on the spiritual knowledge of men and women in southern Mexico known as the Toltecs, these scientists and artists  thousands of years ago, explored and conserved ancient wisdom. Naguals (masters) and students came together at Teotihuacan, the pyramids outside Mexiclo City, a.k.a. the place where "Man Becomes Gods.

The First Agreement: BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD.

This resonates with me after the seminars at KW Family Reunion, the one on Fierce Conversations with Linda McKissack, and the power of words with Dianna Kokoska. Here, Ruiz counsels to use words to say what you mean, speaking from the heart, but directing those words towards love and kindness.

Words weave a spel so powerful in your mind they can convince that you are good or bad, successful or not. They shouldn't be used to hurt yourself or others.

Gossip, a poison, Ruiz calls it, has become the pastime for many. All I need do is look at the tabloids on shelves in the grocery store check out line to see the power of gossip - we have whole TV channels dedicated to gossiping about the lives, loves, and losses of people.

Words carry such power or force they can change the course of history. Look at Hitler. It is hard to imagine now how his words, playing on his countrymen's fears, created such mass destruction.

I've already adopted using the phrase "Telll me something good," rather than asking people "How are you?" AndI also love the line fromMcKissack about "I love you too much to argue."

So, my intention  for Fabulous Friday, February 27 is to be impeccable with my word all day long. How about you?

Great Post, it certainly appears that wisdom in all its guises implicitly and unequivocally confirms the power of words. The Toltecs were a fascinating culture. I shall pick this book up.  By the way, one of the greats, Florence Scovel Shinn wrote a book, circa 1920's entitled  ~ Your Word Is Your Wand.  Very much like your format for this series of posts.
