One of the amazing things that the John C Campbell Folk School offers is an outrageous garden.  There are classes in gardening plus the plants provide a healthful addition to the scrumptious meals served to the students when they take their classes.                           I slipped away from the festivities and was lucky to catch 3 stages of bud to bloom all on one bush.

The Fall Festival at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina last weekend always features alpacas right next to some weavers of alpaca wool.   Their faces are so fascinating that it is impossible not to stop and study them.  On this day, they in turn were fascinated by our Office Manager and spent their own sweet time studying her.

Things To Do In Murphy NC - John C. Campbell Folk School’s Fall Festival WOW!   I can’t believe that October is only 10 days away. It seems like only yesterday that I was packing away the Christmas decorations.    One of the favorite things to do here in Murphy NC happens every year on the first weekend in October.  It’s the John C. Campbell Folk School’s Fall Festival. This isn’t your typical “garage-sale” craft weekend.  This two-day event is a celebration of all things “Appalachian” - a celebration of our heritage.   People come from hundreds of miles away for this event and it has never disappointed.   You will hear music, watch dance performances, see crafts being made as only they can be done in the mountains.  Things such as black smithing, basket weaving, pottery and wood turnin...
