pangburn ar: 1942 Billfold. OLD. Poll tax receipt. White Co AR tax receipt. - 06/13/23 08:32 AM

You think this looks old?
How about this one?  You can see it is ancient!
The probable date that it was in action. 1942.  Perhaps it was carried through the war.  Now we see two more interesting items.  A poll tax receipt and a receipt for paying White County AR personal property tax. Total tax was 80 cents.

This old billfold was found at an estate sale and makes me wonder whether some gentleman carried it off to war with him.  There is a name, a Mr. Casey from Pangburn AR.  If anyone knew him perhaps we can learn more about him.  It is … (4 comments)

Pangburn Girls' Basketball Team 1953
Another one of the 12 teams that were entered in the 1953 Basketball tournament held at Rose Bud Arkansas is shown above.  Their fans are listed below the picture.  We have put almost all of the teams on blogs so go back and see all of them if you'd like.  We have one more to go....Rose Bud.
Either the girls at Pangburn were short or the coach was extremely tall!  Look through the group and see if you know anyone.

pangburn ar: 304 Austin, Pangburn Arkansas,Boggs House.....on Historic Register.....for sale. - 03/12/11 02:10 PM
Maybe I'm a little nuts.  Mention some other's agents's listing?  Another company's listing?  Yeah, nuts!
But look at this old house for sale in Pangburn Arkansas.  It is reported to be on the Historic Register of Homes, built in 1898, was once the telephone company and is known as the "Boggs Home."

Someone has taken an old house and dolled it up to have lots of charm.  I especially like this inside picture of the house.

This picture shows the stairs going up, the old boards on the wall and makes you think of sending the kids to bed … (15 comments)

pangburn ar: Here's what activerain has done for me. I appreciate old filling stations now! - 09/10/10 07:07 AM

Did you see the old guys sitting on this porch chatting and watching the people walk by?  The next one had some sitters too.

Can you see the last time this tank was used?  The old guys sitting on the bench under the porch knew everyone who came by to fill up their tank.  They also knew the guy who came out and asked, "Filler up?"
A recent trip to Pangburn Arkansas from Searcy Arkansas actually had me looking for old filling stations.  I've driven by these things dozens of times but this time I pulled over and … (17 comments)

pangburn ar: Tonsil clinic held at Pangburn AR school in 1930! Unbelievable story! - 09/10/08 12:20 AM

Have you ever heard of a Tonsil Clinic?  I am not making this up.  It happened in Arkansas and probably other places.  Sixty Pangburn Arkansas students underwent tonsillectomies at their school on Oct 17, 1930!
A most vivid article was published by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette on Dec. 10, 2000.  It was so vivid that I saved it.  I wish I could publish it but they'd sue me.
The article says,  "The school became a hospital for a couple of days.  Classrooms became operating rooms;  Army cots were brought in; and the auditoriums became the recovery room where (some) patients stayed … (14 comments)
