quattlebaum music: M.D. Faith photos. Downtown Searcy AR. Shaklee. Parking meters. Rialto - 04/10/23 10:40 AM
We have shown several pictures in the last few weeks that were taken by REALTOR  M. D. Faith in Searcy AR.  The pictures were taken around 1979 or 1980.  Here are four more, pretty close neighbors.  For greater detail, enlarge them.

Here is our court house again but one thing is strange in this picture.  In the distance on the right is a sign saying Shaklee Center.  Is that what was being sold many years ago to help your health?  And there was a store downtown?  Also note parking meters!  Young people today have probably never seen one.

And now we see the … (6 comments)

quattlebaum music: Old parade picture. Searcy AR. Service window Quattlebaum Music building. - 06/13/22 11:01 AM

Parade downtown Searcy.
Here's an interesting picture of a parade in old down-town Searcy AR.  The original brick streets are visible and interesting.  The court house is in the distance.  To me, most interesting is the service window that has now been closed but once was a part of what is now Quattlebaum Music Store on the corner of Arch and Spring Streets.
That's a Truman Baker Chevrolet float and some of the Searcy Sleuths may recognize the lady on the float.  Someone may also know the date by observing the cars.  Definitely a good historic photo!!

quattlebaum music: Robertson's Drug Store. Old postcard. Searcy AR. Historic picture. - 07/31/20 06:21 AM

Almost priceless picture of downtown Searcy AR landmark.
On ebay right now, priced at $23.75, is this wonderful postcard of the original  Robertson's Drug Store (now operated as Quattlebaum Music) in downtown Searcy AR.  It was established in 1860, according to the card.  I seem to have put this building up several times in this blog history.  Here's another view of it .

And check out this one that has a closer view of the window on the side.

quattlebaum music: Historic architecture; old time memories in Searcy Arkansas at Stott's Drug Store. - 09/07/11 02:00 PM
Stott's Drug Store.
A trip to Stott's in Searcy Arkansas is always a pleasure.  You get to see all the old medical collectibles plus new fashion items.
Plus, you can say, "Charge it."
I couldn't help noticing the windows cranked open at the adjoining building, equally historic, and now called Quattlebaum Music.  Once I saw Greg Geroy, proprietor, up on a ladder actually painting the historic structure.  It is reportedly 160 years old! Read blog here.

I snapped a picture of those windows upstairs.  I'm sure Greg was letting it air out as it has needed to have done for what? 160 … (14 comments)

quattlebaum music: Evolution of downtown Arch Street, Searcy Arkansas via postcard history. - 05/13/11 04:26 PM
Old postcards are so educational.  My collection seems to show the evolution of Arch Street on the court square.  Look at this one that dates to way way back.  Look at the third building from the left, just after Baugh's Drug Store.  It is red brick, isn't it.... and has architecture a lot like the first building on the left.

Now look at this one dated somewhere around 1912.  Look at the same building.  It must have been given a fresh coat of light paint.  But the architectural detail is still there and it sure looks like the first building.
