Protesters to target trapping of monkeys
A Rhesus monkey relaxes on a branch overlooking the Silver river in Silver Springs, Fl on Sunday May 22, 2004. The monkeys have been a curiosity and attraction along the river and eastern Marion County since their descendants escaped from an attraction at Silver Springs in the 1930's. Throughout the years they have been the subject of studies, fear and legislation but today they are simply an interesting attraction along the natural and unspoiled river that runs through Silver River State Park.

Forbes ranks Ocala 5th nationwide for projected job growth Ocala's real estate market is slowly recovering, but is probably 6-12 months behind most of the country. If there is any one thing holding Ocala back it is jobs! So this is Great News for Ocala!

Wow! Is this Great News for Ocala!
Ocala's real estate market is slowly recovering, but is probably 6-12 months behind most of the country. If there is any one thing holding Ocala back it is jobs! So this is Great News for Ocala!

Ocala & Marion County Market Report August 2013 Homes 40% higher last month than during previous July July was an active month for Marion County’s single-family home market. Realtors reported 518 sales of existing homes - 40 percent more than recorded during the same month last year.The median sales price was $107,500, which was 15.7 percent more than the July 2012 mark.Of those 518 sales, 246 were cash sales. "Ocala 489 LLC on Monday morning closed the deal selling 150 acres of land at the Ocala/Marion County Commerce Park to FedEx Ground Package System Inc. for $7.8 million, clearing the way for the company's plans to build a hub facility off Interstate 75." ... Two Ocala Hospitals Shine in Rankings by Consumer Reports Munroe, Ocala Regional fare well in Consumer Reports ranking "Both of Ocala's main hospitals were ranked near the top of Florida hospitals for surgery performance in elderly patients, according to a national report from Consumer Reports released last week." Munroe Regional Medical Center and Ocala Regional Medical Center received the highest rating of "better" -- the highest of five categories that went from "better" to "worse."

IHMC Finishes First In International Robotics Challenge Pensacola, FL -- A team from the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) took first place in the initial stage of the DARPA Robotics Challenge, topping a roster of 26 of the top robotics research groups in the world. Marion County Housing Market Continued to Rebound in May - Revised We wanted to update this blog because we mis-quoted some information on mortgage rates. They did in fact on a single day break 4.0% But we usually quote the "weekly average rate". And that in fact dropped slightly to end the week at 3.93. Subsequent to these rates coming out however, the Federal Reserve Chairman issues his update which rocked the stock market and bond markets. Next week the rates are almost certainly going to be above 4.0%
