clear lake: Galveston County Homeowner's Insurance - Windstorm / Hurricanes - 10/29/11 11:37 AM
I sat down again with Lane McKinney, a local insurance expert... and here's what he had to say about Hurricanes and how it relates to pricing on insurance in the Galveston County, League City, and Clear Lake area: It has been over 3 years since Hurricane Ike put a direct hit on us in the Galveston-Clear Lake area. You would think that not having a direct hit for almost 25 years prior to Hurricane Ike and nothing happening within the last 3 years would help lower our home insurance rates. NOT SO !!.... With weather forecasters constantly predicting "Record Storms This … (0 comments)

How To Communicate In America: - Scheduling Appointments I realize there may be cultural differences or regional difference...  I realize some people may be used to doing things a certain way.  We value our privacy here in America, and definitely in League City, Friendswood, Clear Lake, and Houston. And when it comes to real estate, we are already having that privacy invaded constantly, so please:
Don’t show up unannounced. The only person expected to show up unannounced is Dawg the Bounty Hunter. Get confirmation for appointments ahead of time. You do not have an appointment scheduled if all parties have not … (2 comments)

clear lake: Exterior Improvements Add Value To My Home - League City, Clear Lake - 04/05/11 04:49 AM
Recently, I listed a home in League City that had flowering clover in the front yard.  This is an ugly weed in a suburban lawn - a sign of an unkempt yard.  Maybe it's beautiful in on in rolling Irish meadows.  Additionally, there was a football, a basketball, a basketball goal, and a pile of dead palm branches and the patio needed to be swept.  The owner of this home couldn't see why this could affect the value of the home.  But, lucky for him, he trusting my experience that says it will affect the value...

clear lake: League City, Clear Lake, Friendswood Home Buyer's Agents - 10/26/10 03:39 PM

Home Inspections
When representing buyers’ best interests, Brian Worrell, a top producing Realtor with Prudential Gary Greene in Friendswood, always recommends that his clients get thorough inspections before closing on a home. However, it is not necessary to have the inspections done before putting an offer on the home. Inspections are typically done during a Buyer’s Option Period while the buyer still has an unrestricted right to terminate the contract or renegotiate its terms. Brian Worrell recommends a minimum of two types of inspections for all properties. First, it is important to hire a licensed Structural and Mechanical Inspector to … (0 comments)

WASHINGTON — The U.S. House passed a NASA authorization bill late Wednesday that provides new direction for the space agency after months of fear over aerospace job losses and program uncertainty.

clear lake: Houston Metro: Model Metro - JOB GROWTH AND LOW COST OF LIVING! - 05/29/10 02:40 AM
This article below written by Joel Kotkin at Forbes Magazine, as it's title would imply, argues that Houston, Texas is a Model City.  More specifically, that the Houston Metro is a model Metro area (including League City, Clear Lake, and Friendswood!).
Now, to answer the critics that think this article may have been written by Houston insider, I say this:  people from Houston are Houstonians -- not Houstonites.  Anyone from around here knows that!  ;-)  The author, Joel Kotkin, is an internationally-recognized authority on global, economic, political and social trends.  Mr. Kotkin attended the University of California, Berkeley. A native New … (4 comments)

clear lake: Would Congress allow Budget Cuts to NASA?? - 02/03/10 04:49 PM
Okay, so this is what's on the mind of many area Realtors in the Houston area... especially the Clear Lake, League City, Friendswood, Webster, Nassau Bay, Seabrook areas of the Houston Metro...  How would potential budget cuts or a complete end to NASA affect our economy here?  How would it affect our real estate market here?
Does the Federal government have the "Space Balls" to kill NASA or is it, like AIG, too big to fail?
