That's a possibility, isn't it? The lead in graphic lists some reasons. Another reason could be you decided to go FSBO. In my own community, there's a property that has been a FSBO, on and off, for 3 years. It's always way overpriced. 
The first thing I would recommend when considering the sale of your property is, be a serious seller and contact your local professional Realtor® and then follow their instructions.

Here in Northeastern Massachusetts, we have had a very mild winter. This week we are to see temperatures range into the 60-degree F area.  Location, Location, Location. Pricing, Pricing, Pricing. These are two factors that have a big impact on Real Estate. With demand so high in our area Sellers are tempted to put a higher than usual price tag on their home. We as Real Estate professionals are not market makers. We are market sellers. I think it is best to place a realistic number, one that corresponds with the market data for that area. I also work from the premise you can place a price too high and the property may/will languish. Price it realistically. Demand for Real Estate is high.

The pictures looked great, the price was great yet the puzzling fact was it had been on the market for over 100 days. Where are Real Estate prices headed in the future? Your guess is as good as mine. Here in Massachusetts, we have seen nearly a 6% average gain year over year. Of course, there are pockets within the State that have experience higher and lower gains. A couple of the other states like Nevada and Idaho have experienced double-digit gains, on average. There are more buyers than there are properties. In our town of Georgetown, MA we had 14 sales and 8 pending for the 1st quarter. Many of the properties were under agreement in a week or so and with prices over asking. The folks at KCM look at things on a national level and it seems low inventory and over asking sales prices are a common experience around the country.

Location, Location, Location & Pricing, Pricing, Pricing...these are just 2 important factors in selling your property. I view the markets as always being a buyers market. They are the ones that push prices up and bring them down. Sellers simply react to what buyers are doing. SOOOO, if a seller's property isn't selling, then, the seller needs to schedule time with their Realtor® to discuss make adjustments to the marketing of the property and ways to make their property more appealing to the buyer pool. MANY times this mean adjusting the listing price downwards.
