Many years I have driven, walked and biked the Seawall through Stanley Park. Many years I passed by this lovely creature on the rock and thought about how sweet it was that we had a mermaid peacefully sitting there.
Apparently I'm not the only one either! Do an google image search for mermaid in Stanley Park and this is what you get!
But many don't know this - but it's not a mermaid!
It's actually a life size bronze statue of a woman in a wetsuit.

Welcome to our first edition of Vancouver Secrets. Some fun and really interestings postings regarding the secrets and history about Vancouver, BC. We're excited to share!
Who doesn't like buried treasure?
The story goes like this,
In 1942 there was a robbery at the Bank of Montreal on Main Street (it still stand today, though no longer a bank)... The thieves made off with $56,500 (which back in 42 was a whole bunch of money!)

What a great weekend we just had - beautiful weather - a bike ride with my dad - and to top it off, a great building inspection that resulted in a firmed up sale! Congratulations to my very happy buyers! You guys are gonna love it!!

vancouver: Warming days coming - so are the fireworks!! Boy do I love Vancouver....

Looking forward to Spring - and what comes after Spring? SUMMER!! Here are a few shots of our amazing 'Celebration of Light' firework competition that we have every year - hundreds of thousands of people come down every year to watch these amazing lights.
For four nights on consecutive Wednesdays and Saturdays, the skies over English Bay light up in a musical pyrotechnic extravaganza. Each country has one night to wow the judges and audience before the final night's grand finale.

I sat behind this at a light today - I thought it was kinda cute so I took a pic! Not something you see every day... I'm used to the classic 'wash me' grafitti...
