carmelbythesea: 25th Carmel Art Festival May 18-20, 2018 in Carmel-by-the-Sea - 05/11/18 02:15 PM
The 25th Carmel Art Festival starts off Friday evening, May 18, 2018 between 7 and 9 PM with a “by invitation” VIP Wine Reception for past buyers of art at past festivals. Art buyers have an opportunity to preview “wet” paintings produced by 60 juried plein air painters during the immediate 48 hours before the event. Each artist enters two exhibition paintings into the event to be judged and silent auctioned off starting that night and ending the next day, Saturday at 6 PM. Venue of the reception and exhibition is Mission Street between Ocean and 6th Avenues adjacent to Devendorf … (7 comments)

carmelbythesea: Now THAT's the red carpet treatment for parking during Concours Week - 08/20/16 11:20 AM

The day before the Concours d' Elegance in Pebble Beach, it seems that everyone with an expensive car is here. There is no distinction, they are just plain that: expensive.
People are walking up and down Ocean Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea, our main street, looking at them. Your ordinary everyday car should not even get near this street today, you would feel, well, you know. This is the day to show it off, and you really need one to show off. Competition is stiff.
Naturally, everyone wants to park it on Ocean Avenue too so people can admire it. Maybe that's why they drive … (17 comments)

carmelbythesea: Marilyn Monroe on the cover of CARMEL Magazine with Rothwell Realty ad - 08/05/16 01:13 AM
CARMEL Magazine just came out, the one that I have a 1-page ad in. And this upscale magazine will be on the stands for the next 3 months including the very important Concours Week which brings thousands of car enthusiasts to the Monterey Peninsula.
Tuesday, August 16 and Thursday, August 18.
And two of those days, the streets of Carmel-by-the-Sea are pretty much closed down to traffic. Streets are closed and people can walk everywhere looking at cars, one finer or more rare than the next.
And my office is right in the middle of it, in Su Vecino Court, on Dolores between 5th … (18 comments)

carmelbythesea: August is Concours Week in and around Carmel-by-the-Sea - 07/21/16 07:57 AM

August is my favorite month in Carmel-by-the-Sea because car aficionados come from all over the world to gaze on, auction/bid for, judge, and drive some of the worlds finest luxury cars, muscle cars, hot rods and sporting cars.
Car manufacturers hold private showings and corporate events at such luxury Carmel Valley resorts as Quail Lodge and Stonepine.
Car owners of the latest and greatest models tend to bring them to Carmel-by-the-Sea and park them in normal parking spaces around town to be admired. And admired they are by thousands of people who come to the Monterey Peninsula for Concours Week.
You will see luminaries from … (4 comments)

carmelbythesea: Deals are made over a Latte at Il Fornaio in Carmel-by-the-Sea - 01/31/15 12:11 AM
What can I say, I love to go to Il Fornaio towards the end of the day for a Latte. Not only has it quieted down by then, but it lengthens my work day with that extra shot of caffeine. Luckily several of my commercial clients in Carmel-by-the-Sea want to extend their business day as well so we go together for this guilty pleasure.

Merchant business hours in Carmel-by-the-Sea tend to be quite short, in my estimation. Nothing really starts happening until 11 AM although some open at 10 AM - but foot traffic in the business district really doesn't … (14 comments)

carmelbythesea: Beautiful Su Vecino Court in Carmel-by-the-Sea - 01/22/15 10:16 AM
The hours have been long here at Rothwell Realty Inc. in Carmel-by-the-Sea. It's an amazingly busy time for which I am truly grateful.
Taking a little break to stretch, I look outside and see this magical view of my surroundings, Su Vecino Court at dusk.
Here are some photos I decided to take, just to share with you. And if you were here and meeting with me right now, I would even suggest that we step outside and sit in the courtyard with a refreshment at Jack London's by the gas fire; or go to Da Giovanni and have a plate … (8 comments)

carmelbythesea: Holiday Decorations at Rothwell Realty Inc. - 12/14/14 04:53 AM
About a month ago, I announced that my new brokerage corporation, Rothwell Realty Inc., had been approved by the California Real Estate Commission. And because I am just so happy with its location in the heart of the Carmel-by-the-Sea business district in one of it's most illustrious courtyards, I added a couple of daytime photos.
Well, since then, management and merchants have decorated the courtyard for the Holidays, making it look very very inviting to shoppers and those who come to dine and sip wine here at Su Vecino Court.
And best of all, when I took the photos, the FULL … (11 comments)

carmelbythesea: Commercial buildings for sale in Carmel-by-the-Sea California - 11/22/14 07:28 AM
Are you in the market to purchase a commercial building in Carmel-by-the-Sea? Several properties have changed hands recently. I have had several inquiries from buyers who wish to buy an investment property in this one square mile city that is Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Is this because there has been a change in the management of City Hall and that investors feel it might be easier to upgrade and renovate properties they purchase? Yes, there has been a change in the way the City does business and everyone is optimistic. You see, those investors who have purchased properties are likely to want to upgrade … (8 comments)
