southwest missouri real estate: Don’t let your clients think you’re a “thaumaturge”? - 11/13/10 11:04 PM

WOOOHOOO!!! I found another one that is.  Agents do this all the time and I bet ya never thought about it at all.  Now the question is how you are going to use it either showing another agent how you know words they did not know existed or to use it with one of your clients.  I would like to hear from you on how you did it.  Now for the meaning of (turj) a person who supposedly works miracles; working wonders.  Love it just love it.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.

Just think about the hospitals and the food service industry just to name two. The meaning of (ab’loo ent) that makes clean, any substance used for cleaning. Now go scrub with abluent and clear your minds for the new group of words I’m going to throw your way. Join wordsmith on Activerain. … (8 comments)

southwest missouri real estate: Jessie - 11/09/10 10:16 PM

I have introduced Jessie to you awhile back.  My wife trained her to ring the bell located on the back door to go do her business.  Alas that’s a tragic thing.  She rings it to go get some rays, chase a squirrel, to check the temperature and sometimes I swear just for fun.  Maybe I can get her a job at the Salvation Army this Christmas as a bell ringer.  What do you think?

southwest missouri real estate: Do you know agents who commit “hypocrisy”? - 11/08/10 10:13 PM
It's no secret I don't know everything about real estate or the real estate market.  I do try and learn something I did not know every day and I get some of that knowledge from posts on Activerain.  I have had the opportunity to talk to other agents and found they are committing this and in some cases I think it hurts the image we have.  The meaning of (hi pak're se) a pretending to be what one is not.  If you don't know for instance the commercial market why take a commercial listing.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.

southwest missouri real estate: My good friend and I “banter” each other daily. - 11/07/10 10:47 PM
With my first blog in this Activerain community I referred to my best friend at the agency Rob.  He is a hardnosed Democrat and I'm just the same but Republican.  We differ on a lot of issues and at the end of the day or in our case the never ending day we still have lunch and agree to disagree.  We talk almost on a daily basis even if we are not at work.  We get along so much that he followed me from one agency to another.  So the meaning of (ban' ter) to tease or make fun of in … (2 comments)

southwest missouri real estate: Are some of your clients “persnickety”? - 11/01/10 11:23 PM
We've all had them and I for one like it.  If these friends and clients or family members are this it may or may not be your cup of tea.  Depending on how you dissect this word you can come up with many meanings.  The ones I'm going to use is: too particular or precise; fastidious; fussy.  Don't you just love it if so join wordsmith on Activerain.

southwest missouri real estate: Be on the “qui vive” for this market. - 10/29/10 11:24 PM
Everyone is doing this even if you believe you are or are not.  Inquiring minds want to know so tell me are you?  You old military guys and gals might recognize this word.  It's a phrase you used in the military.  It originated in France but now is in every military base that I know of.  The meaning of (ke vev) whose side are you on?  A sentry's challenge, lookout on the alert, who goes there.  So tell me are you on the lookout for the change in the market that is sure to come?  Join wordsmith on Activerain.

southwest missouri real estate: May the real estate recovery last for a “quindecennial”? - 10/28/10 11:22 PM
When this market recovers and it surely will I hope that it lasts for a quindecennial.  I hopefully will be around and still on my feet doing this business.  Maybe I'll have a grasp on this line of work and be able to better serve my clients.  If you haven't grasped this I believe you are never and I repeat never too old to learn and the learning process never stops.  By the way (kwin de sen' e el) means lasting fifteen years.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.

southwest missouri real estate: I hope you don’t have any agents who “peculate”. - 10/27/10 11:00 PM
I thought this one would grab your attention.  I know it happens but I hope it never happens in your office.  This gives the agent, agency and all people who work hard in this business a bad name.  We collectively need to teach the newbie's coming into this business the outcome if they do this.  Keep it clean and respectable.  The meaning of (pek' yoo lat') to steal or misuse (money or property) entrusted to one's care.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.

southwest missouri real estate: Don't be a stumbling block for yourself. .. - 10/27/10 08:15 AM
I received a message from someone I worked with when I was in law enforcement.  I sent her the information she requested and saw this on her home page in Facebook.  So I ask you are you a stumbling block for yourself for listings or buyers.  Are you your worse own enemy?  Are you prepared when you go to a listing or do you know about the area you work to answer all the questions a buyer might have?  Think about it.  Have a good daywork." Let go and let God. !!

southwest missouri real estate: Some young agents are “indolent”. - 10/26/10 11:22 PM
While the title does not give you an indication as to what it means I have a confession to make.  I have done this when I was younger.  What I don't understand now is why I did this.  That got me to thinking and looking around.  In real estate you do not see many young people doing this because their livelihood dictates they not do this.  The meaning of (in' de lent): disliking or avoiding work.    So tell me have you ever had a case of indolence?  Join wordsmith on Activerain.

southwest missouri real estate: We can fix anything. - 10/24/10 11:17 PM
So the story goes there was a sign posted that read the following:  We can fix anything, please knock because the doorbell is not working.  Do you think you would want to have them repair whatever you have?  If they repair anything and can't fix their own doorbell I would walk no run away.  So can you fix your clients problems in reference to their real estate needs?  If so you can post that sign over your door but I would not recommend it.  Have a glorious day.

southwest missouri real estate: How do I get to the post office? - 10/24/10 11:04 AM
So the story goes Billy Graham was in a town early in his career.  We had some things to mail and asked a young lad where the post office was.  The lad told him how to get to the post office.  Mr. Graham told him he was preaching and gave him the location.  He went on to tell him he was going to preach on how to get to heaven and what you needed to do to get there.  The young lad looked at Mr. Graham and told him "If you can't find the post office do you expect me to … (6 comments)

southwest missouri real estate: The simple truth - 10/23/10 11:29 PM
Ok what is the simple truth?  Do you believe in GOD if so that may be yours?  How about the sun will rise in the east or your significant other loves you.  Everyone has a simple truth regardless if they admit it or not.  So I ask you in real estate what is your simple truth.  I suggest it is simple and that is to do your best for your client.  Among others to numerous to mention but you get the idea.  Now what is your simple truth?

southwest missouri real estate: Do you have clients that like to “cavil”? - 10/22/10 11:00 PM
Yes sir I've done this just to get a reaction.  But in defense of the word sometimes you need to do this.   Yes there are times when you need to do this with your clients.  After all this is part of the job and your oath that you took when you started.  The meaning of (kav' el) to object when there is little reason to do so.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.

southwest missouri real estate: Don’t “bandy” your clients or broker - 10/21/10 11:12 PM
Yes sir if you do this I would like to see what happens.  Tried this more than once it of course I lost.  So I can speak from experience you look bad and people lose respect for you.  However there are times when you just can't help yourself and you need to do this or bust.  So my suggestion is to get in your vehicle alone and do it until you're satisfied or go home and do this to the wall.  The meaning of (ban' de) to exchange (words) in an angry or argumentative manner.  Join wordsmith on Activerain.
