success coaching: More Trouble Than It's Worth - 03/09/15 10:07 PM
I just read something from famed author & blogger, Seth Godin:  More Trouble Than It's Worth.

When we are willing to do those things that most people view as being more trouble than it's worth...THAT is a great place to be!

IT SETS you apart!

DO the things that others are not willing to do!

My example:  I write handwritten thank you notes to the Realtors that refer us business!  HAND WRITE them!  And not just a quick "thank you" - but a whole inside of the card handwritten!  (I ask them if any other home inspector … (10 comments)

success coaching: 3 Tips to Set Yourself Apart - 03/08/15 11:09 AM

What makes you different?  What sets you apart from your competition?
For us at OPiS - Business Differentiation means our OPiS Photo CD and OPiS Peace of Mind Tour...
OPiS inspectors document the condition of the home by literally taking hundreds of digital photos throughout the inspection (average sized home usually will have well over  1,000 pictures taken).  We call this our OPiS Photo CD.  These pictures are then burned on a CD and given to the home buyer if they are in attendance.  THIS is business differentiation because no other home inspection company markets this!
NOTICE - I said "markets this"!

success coaching: How to Win Friends & Influence People - My Story - 03/05/15 11:33 AM

I remember EXACTLY when the "lights" went on for me when it comes to personal relationships.
I picked up the book by Dale Carnegie - "How to Win Friends and Influence People."
IF you stay with me on this...my story might be a little like yours...
Or at least it can give you HOPE if you have ever thought that "I am not a People Person".
SCIENCE GEEK
I was a chemistry major in college and had just earned my Ph.D. in chemistry when I was walking through a bookstore (which I NEVER did - because I was not a reader) and a paperback book, which was on … (9 comments)

success coaching: The ULTIMATE Loyalty Guide: Customer Service - 03/04/15 07:50 AM

I know some of you out there are GREAT at customer service!
I love to eat at Chick-Fil-A.
Why?  Because I  know the service is going to be superb.  Do I really LOVE their food?  I am not head-over-heels with their food - but I keep going back because I know I am going to get great, friendly service!  (If it wasn't for the service, I probably would not go there very much!)
It seems that wherever (geographically) I may go in to a Chick-Fil-A store, I know they are going to have sharp, thoughtful people at the store.  I LOVE … (11 comments)

success coaching: 10 Quick Points on What I Learned From John Maxwell-4 - 03/03/15 10:06 PM

This is the 4th and final post about what I learned from John Maxwell in Orlando the last week in February.  There is just so much information and to be able to keep it all distilled in useable form is an art!
WHAT I have not heard from anyone commenting on the previous THREE POSTS is what points resonate with you....
HOPEFULLY - you can easily pick out some truly golden treasures and apply to you life...Which ones resonate with you?
It is impossible to have excellence without talent. Bring people around you that believe in exceeding expectations. … (6 comments)

success coaching: VENUS FLY TRAP and RAISING CHILDREN - 03/03/15 09:59 AM

This is hilarious with some GREAT life lessons!  Thanks for posting, Richie Alan Naggar Author PEARLS SERIES of books!
You have heard about this plant. When I was a kid, I couldn't believe that this plant existed and did the things it does. They used to advertise in comic books so it is a quality product. It secretes a sweet smell designed to attract a fly or small insect and once on board, the trap is sprung and you cannot get out...Then, slowly it releases a fluid that starts to dissolve the catch over time....
THIS IS A MUST HAVE

success coaching: 14 Bullet Points - What I Learned from John Maxwell-3 - 03/03/15 08:48 AM

This is the third post about what I learned the last week of February in Orlando from John Maxwell.
We must take action on what we learn - implement ideas - form new habits.  Which little nuggets of gold below hit you?
You don't want to be good sometimes - you want to be good ALL the time! You have to set your own standards. Expect more from yourself than what others expect from you. Love where you are right now. Wherever you are right now is where you should be. Refuse to live off of your past. … (10 comments)

success coaching: What I Learned from John Maxwell - 03/03/15 02:11 AM

I just spent the last week of February in Orlando finalizing my Professional Coaching/Speaking/Training Certification with The John Maxwell Team.
I have summarized some of what I learned below.  (I may write in more depth later on about some of these, so stay tuned!)
Always start with big thoughts and then shrink them down from there. People around you make you better if you are around the RIGHT people. When John Maxwell first wrote the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership - the publisher wanted him to update it 10 years later.  He updated it and could not believe how much he had … (4 comments)

success coaching: How Successful People Think - 02/28/15 09:57 PM

John Maxwell is a master thinker.  I have learned so much from him about thinking.

I used to just get on the hamster wheel and just go...not even thinking...go, go, go...no time to think!

I have been able to massively elevate my leadership and personal growth to new heights - JUST by taking some time EACH day to really think.

THINK about your schedule - what am I doing today that is going to get me closet to my goals?
THINK about the people you are going to meet that day - what can you do … (13 comments)

success coaching: Ramblings & Gleanings from Dallas... - 02/28/15 12:32 AM

GREAT post from Michael Thornton - we can all learn from this.
As most of you know, I have spent the last four days in Dallas learning to be better at what I am. I am a business owner who owns $1 million business. I’m just not there yet. I say that because I am what I say and what I think.
When I begin to write and speak aloud my goals something begins to change. I tap into the unlimited power of the subconscious mind. At times, I believe that this is what scares me. I have unlimited power at my … (10 comments)

success coaching: ReInvent Yourself! Really...! - 02/25/15 12:52 AM
I am dating myself, but the masters of this were Madonna....and Cher.  (I thought Prince would also be one of those people, but...thankfully, he wasn't and just disappeared after he tried to be "The Artist formerly known as Prince"!)
Both Madonna and Cher would continue over a long career to reinvent themselves and that is what kept them relevant in an industry where people and acts have very short careers at the forefront of the public eye...like Justin Bieber, or the boy bands.

OH - so you are not Madonna and not in a boy band?
GOOD - whew! … (11 comments)

success coaching: If Every Agent Prospected, The Top Producers Would Have Competition!! - 02/21/15 07:28 AM
I really enjoyed this post by Barbara Todaro - as she talks about doing things consistently that others are just not willing to do!  Success is creating by consistently doing the fundamentals!

I just read a well written post by Marte Cliff titled “Real Estate Prospecting - Only Persistence Leads to Success” and I thought I’d share my thoughts on this topic.  Prospecting is the task that keeps business flowing.  Prospecting should be considered the main assignment, each and every day.
The key words are Each and Every Day.  Yet, there are agents who refuse to exert the effort to prospect.  … (6 comments)

success coaching: Professional Coaching - My Story - 02/21/15 06:56 AM

Well - it is finally here...and in good time, too because in the morning I head to Orlando!  80 degrees will feel sweaty as I will be leaving about 7 inches of snow and a week of sub-zero temps!
I am going to Orlando to finalize my professional coaching/training certification with the John Maxwell Team.
How did this happen?
Here I am - I have a Ph.D. in Chemistry and have owned/operated a multi-inspector inspection company in SW Ohio for 18 years.  We have another office in Columbus (some will recognize that as The Capital of College Football this year! … (10 comments)

success coaching: 3 QUICK Tips on How to Get Out of a RUT - 02/20/15 12:07 AM
Three quick actions you can take to get out of a rut.

Successful people have GREAT habits that they do everyday.  Sometimes we get lazy and need to change.  Here are three ideas to help propel you back on a successful road:

WHY - why do you want to change?  (If you don't know your "why" - if it is not strong enough - your change(s) won't last.  You have to want to change bad enough - the pain of not changing has to be great enough to make you want to move out.) WHAT - what are you … (20 comments)

success coaching: Read The Sports Section First - 02/19/15 01:59 AM

I just read a great article by Lynne Everatt on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=113190332.  She has some great stuff, there.
The graphic above basically summarizes her observations!

Got me thinking:
The sports section is great for many accomplishments to be highlighted.
Athletes have goals Athletes train hard Athletes focus Athletes know about consistency Athletes know how to practice..practice..practice Athletes know about teamwork Athletes know about routines and schedules Athletes know how to control their mind Athletes know how to deal with adversity Athletes know the joy of victory Athletes know the pain of defeat Athletes know about sacrifice But best of … (2 comments)

success coaching: Personal Development - 6 Ways to Stay Relevant - 02/18/15 11:15 AM

Have you ever returned to a high school reunion after a lengthy period of time and met some of your old classmates for the first time since you graduated?
I am sure that you met some that are exactly the same as when you left school!  They are in the same old rut they were a long time ago...never changing...still living in their "high school dreams".
I am sure that you met some that brought a "Wow!  They have really changed - for the better!" thought to your mind.  They have succeeded in life and have grown beyond … (6 comments)

success coaching: Capitalize on What You Do Best - 02/16/15 12:04 PM

Most of us tend to want to work on our weaknesses.  (We've been told this our whole lives and have come to believe it.)
Working on our deficiencies is hard...and not much fun.  We don't thrive in our weaknesses.
.......and - working on our weaknesses is NOT the best use of our time - allow me to shed a little light on this...
WORKING on our weaknesses cause most of us stress, worry, and irritability.  WHY would we want to work on things that are not any fun?
For me - working on taxes and dealing with any of the issues associated with taxes … (10 comments)
