How Working With Artists & Performers Became a Niche Market for Us

Over the past several years, we've discovered that our real estate market activity has increasingly become centered on working with clients who happen to be employed in the performing arts or the visual arts. A surprising number of our clients fit into this category.  For example, recent real estate clients we've assisted have included a member of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra who wished to sell his home and a symphony bass player who needed help finding a mortgage.  Recent clients have also included the artistic director of a theater company, an art gallery owner, a sculptor, a portrait painter and a … (4 comments)

saint paul chamber orchestra: Pawlenty Budget Proposal Threatens to Decimate the Arts in Minnesota - 02/07/09 03:32 PM
Govenor Tim Pawlenty's latest budget-balancing idea is sure to appeal to folks who are bad at math.
The Governor has proposed phasing out funding of the Minnesota State Arts Board by 2011 to zero.  The ten million reduction under his proposal won't do a thing to balance Minnesota's five billion dollar deficit, but the Governor wants to dismantle the State Arts Board anyway, turning it into a "privatized" nonprofit organization.
Not only artists suffer from the plan (yes, artists pay income taxes too).  Here's a partial list of who gets hurt by Governor Pawlenty's not-too-bright idea:

saint paul chamber orchestra: Twin Cities Catholic Chorale Brings Glorious Music to Saint Paul, Minnesota - 12/10/07 10:34 AM
Many visitors to the Church of Saint Agnes on a Sunday morning think of the Twin Cities Catholic Chorale as an organization working to preserve the treasury of sacred music for orchestra and full choir.  For over three decades, the Chorale has regaled listeners with performances of the greatest orchestral Masses of the eighteenth and nineteenth century.
Founded by its original director, the late Monsignor Richard Schuler, the Chorale has performed a 10 a.m. High Mass (in Latin) since 1974.  Instrumentalists participating in the accompanying orchestra are professional musicians from the Minneapolis and Saint Paul area, including members of the Minnesota Orchestra, … (0 comments)
