In fact, they may just direct you just outside the Quarter to the surrounding neighborhood, the Marigny, that has recently experienced a boom in activity.
 
Some may contribute the new-found bustle to this year's re-opening of the St. Roch Market, a historic landmark built in 1875. local event: Adopt a Rubber Duck to Save a Homeless Pet's Life & Win $1000 - 07/07/15 12:38 AM
Next Saturday, July 18th, 2015, St. Tammany's Bogue Falaya Park in Covington will host a race like no other. At the stroke of noon, the St. Tammany Duck Derby will begin as 5000 Rubber Derby Ducks will be released into the Bogue Falaya River and begin racing towards the finish line. Adopt a single duck or a whole flock for a donation of as little as $5 to the St. Tammany Humane Society. If your duck wins the race, you win $1000, even if you are not present. Ever dreamed of attending the world-famous Encierro (English: Running of the Bulls) in Pamplona, Spain? 
 
  
The running of the bulls is a major feature of a 9-day fiesta, the San Fermin festival, held each year from July 6th to July 14th. The festival attracts over a million visitors and is one of the most internationally renowned festivals in Spain, having been popularized by Ernest Hemmingway in his 1926 novel The Sun Also Rises. The event is not without danger, and since officials began keeping records in 1925, at least 13 people have been killed participating and many others are gored or otherwised injured each year.
