negotiation: Three things I learned from my grand kids - 11/07/17 08:10 AM

We just spent a few days visiting with my son and his wife and our three grandkids. It is always interesting the conversations you have with children and you can learn a lot from them if you keep your ears open.
Ask questions
My oldest grandson and I walked up to the local coffee shop one morning. The whole way a roundtrip of 3 miles he asked questions about his Dad, his uncles, how they got on together, what they liked to do, what games they played etc. It was fun to see how interested he was in comparing his life with his … (19 comments)

negotiation: Are you really listening? - 01/06/17 08:36 AM
Are you really listening?
As I travelled the last few days I was reading a book about negotiation. I came across the following statement:
If you agree, then negotiation is the art of listening, to uncover the information you need. One of my goals for this year is to improve my listening. Well, it is the same when we head out from our offices on a listing appointment, or handle a negotiation. We can have role played and explored different scenarios, but it is only when you actually do it … (1 comments)

negotiation: Negotiation is the name of the game - 06/26/14 05:53 AM

Selling a Philadelphia main Line home has now become a multi round game of negotiation.
1) Agreement of sale
2) Inspections
3) Appraiser
4) Walk thru prior to settlement

You focus on your goals alone while a good buyer's agent will dig to discover what the sellers goals might also be so that both sides reach settlement achieving most if not … (2 comments)
