south carolina: Hard Rock Park is open! - 04/22/08 01:19 PM
That's right, Ladies and Gentleman... the Hard Rock Park is now open!  Sort of...
Called the "Sound Check", the park's soft opening commenced on April 15, with a grand opening scheduled for May 9.  (One woman even paid $1,829 for the first 4 seats on the "Stairway to Heaven" roller coaster - in the front, of course.)
A special opening celebration concert and golf tournament is scheduled for June 2 & 3, when the Eagles and the Moody Blues are scheduled to perform.  Tickets are still available for the event; click here to tour the Hard Rock's website.
Come on down and be one of the … (4 comments)

south carolina: Sad story for a great cause... - 03/08/08 05:33 AM
My wife recently went back to her hometown of Seattle, WA, to attend a yearly charity auction that she has supported for the past 10+ years.  This auction is held by a local guild raising funds for uncompensate care for kids at Children's Hospital.
Each year they bring in a guest speaker who explains the benefits of Children's Hospital.  It is usually a parent who has had to endure their child's sickness, or one of the doctors who is continuously working with these children.  This year's guest speaker was a 5-year old boy from Iraq, who is currently staying with one of the guild members while … (1 comments)

In case you missed my last post, I wanted to continue to spread the word about Myrtle Beach's television debut in Prime Time on the Golf Channel.
Finally, Myrtle Beach is getting the attention it so rightly deserves as not just a golf Mecca, but as the fun, entertaining and accomplished area that it is.  Did you know that we have over 1,800 restaurants on the Grand Strand to choose from?
So here is the information.  Set your DVRs or TiVo's... or watch it live!  See what all the fuss is about for yourself...
The Golf Channel has now started a weekly television show highlighting the best links on … (0 comments)

To celebrate this historic event, organizers have planned a massive opening ceremony, featuring two days of concerts and a celebrity golf tournament!  Opening the event will be legendary rock band, The Eagles; the following day, The Moody Blues will commemorate the opening of the dark psychedelic ride, "Nights in White Satin - The Trip", that they inspired.

south carolina: A Tribute to my Mentor... - 02/25/08 10:16 AM
About 6 years ago, I had the privilege of meeting a man who would have a major part in changing my life.
This older Dutch gentleman, and his beautiful Southern belle wife, have become two of the greatest influences to my wife & I, and I'd like to share a few tidbits of wisdom he has thrown our way over the years...
"Treat money like s*** - if you stack it up in a pile, it just stinks.  You have to spread it around to make things grow"
"Son, you can't fly with the eagles if you're hanging around with turkeys"
"What are you... stupid?"  … (2 comments)

south carolina: Happy Feet!... courtesy of Myrtle Beach's Chicora Rotary - 02/25/08 09:53 AM
The Myrtle Beach Chicora Rotary Club, in cooperation with Payless Shoe Company, held the area's first "Project Happy Feet!" campaign on Saturday, February 23rd, at the Coastal Grande Mall.  The objective of the project was to provide a pair of new shoes to 100 needy children in the Horry County area.
Elementary school teachers in Horry County were contacted and asked to nominate the students they felt would most benefit from the project.  The child's parent or guardian was notified of their selection, and the children were brought to the mall for their new pair of shoes.
If a child was unable to get … (0 comments)

south carolina: How are those Resolutions coming? - 02/20/08 03:58 AM
Here we are in the middle of February... a good 50 days from New Years and I am curious... how are those Resolutions going?
If you recall, I made the proclamation that I don't make resolutions.  At the beginning of the year, I was in the process of making a "lifestyle change".  In late November, I began eating at home more, eating the right foods, and attempting to incorporate more exercise into my schedule.
I did well all through the holidays - the toughest time for most.  What finally derailed my terrific progress was my office move and the stress involved in … (3 comments)

south carolina: Don't Forget Myrtle Beach! - 02/19/08 08:39 AM
Now that most of the country is gripped in cold, dreary, and sometime snowy weather, now is the time to think about the warm, cozy breezes of someplace tropical...
When it comes time to plan your next vacation, or decide on your final retirement or relocation destination, don't forget Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!  Not only do we offer a warm, temperate climate year round, but we offer affordable real estate, world-class attractions, and miles upon miles of beautiful white sand beaches!
Myrtle Beach has been on Yahoo's "Word's Best Beach" list since 2003, and in April 2007, it beat out exotic locales like Miami, … (2 comments)

south carolina: Heartwarming, yet Heartbreaking... Part 2 - 01/22/08 08:00 AM
I've received many responses to my post last week about my visit to Ground Zero.  Obviously many people are still grieving for the tremendous losses the country suffered over six years ago.  Meanwhile, the politicians and commentators are bringing the events of 9/11 into their debates and speeches, mostly to criticize the actions of President Bush, and the "war on terror".
I'm sure many of you saw this during the Super Bowl in 2002... and if not, you probably should.  Granted, it's a Budweiser commercial, but the sentiments presented in this one minute video are just as relevant now as they were when it … (1 comments)

south carolina: Ready Myrtle Beach? Here we go again! - 01/17/08 09:01 AM
On Monday, January 21, another wave of political candidates, newscasters, media and moguls will flow into the Myrtle Beach area, this time for the Democratic Primary Presidential Debate being held at the Palace Theatre near Broadway at the Beach.
Not to show preference for Republicans over Democrats, the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce has confirmed that another Mt. Myrtle (the Mount Rushmore-like rendering of the candidates faces carved in a mountain of sand) will be erected in honor of the Democratic candidates.
As hectic and overwhelming as these political events can be, having Myrtle Beach be the host town is a huge accomplishment … (1 comments)

south carolina: Heartwarming, yet Heartbreaking... - 01/15/08 03:13 PM
Today, during my stay here in New York City, I went on a little adventure in Manhattan.  We went to the Empire State Building, saw Madison Square Garden, took the subway... all those "touristy" things that people do when they come to the Big Apple.
Our final destination, however, was sobering.  We went to see Ground Zero.
While there was lots of activity, new structures being built, and a ton of people walking by as part of their daily ritual, it was still a heartbreaking sight.  The deep gaping hole - the sheer size of it.  Our vantage point (on a walking bridge over … (2 comments)

south carolina: Thanks NY! - 01/15/08 02:47 PM
Me and a few of my team have been here in New York City, and surrounding areas, since Saturday evening.  We've had a great trip (mostly for business, but with a little free time) and have truly enjoyed being able to come up here.
I'd like to take a minute to thank those new folks who came out to join us (Thanks for the opportunity!), those who already knew us (Thanks for coming out to support us!), and those who hosted us (Thanks for the accommodations!).
We intend to make another trip up here as soon as possible and hope to see many more … (0 comments)

south carolina: Interested in Myrtle Beach? - 01/10/08 03:37 AM
We invite you to spend an hour with us next week at an exclusive invitation-only event (schedule below).  You'll have the chance to meet with local experts (including our very own Bill Lagan, a native New Yorker who relocated to Myrtle Beach after 33 years as a Mahopac school teacher), and gain an insider's perspective on what brings New Yorkers, midwesterners, and even west coasters to Myrtle Beach - and why they just can't leave.  We'll throw back the curtain on what's going on in Myrtle Beach right now that will completely - and forever - transform our market and create … (0 comments)

south carolina: Alternatives for Financing - 01/10/08 03:23 AM
The more I read these blogs regarding the financing crisis, guideline regulations, and PMI increases, its no wonder the market has stalled like it has.  The lenders are making it difficult, if not impossible, for someone to get into a home!
Homeownership is the first, and most important, step toward financial freedom.  Not only that, but it's the secure feeling of having a home of your own - something that is just yours.
Price & Company wants to be part of the solution!  We have a special rent to own system that allows those people who might not be able to qualify for … (0 comments)

south carolina: New Years - 01/09/08 10:56 AM
Now that we've begun a brand new year, I'm hearing more and more about how people are refusing to make "New Years Resolutions" anymore.  And you know what... I agree with them!  Typically, a resolution is made and broken within a few days (sometimes hours), inevitably resulting in someone's disappointment that they failed in their endeavor, whatever it may be.
Everyone has a goal they'd like to reach:  Lose weight.  Quit smoking.  Be nicer.  Keep my cool in traffic.  Exercise more.  Be successful.  But placing an immediate timeframe on these goals is unreasonable.  Take each goal and set REALISTIC deadlines - whether its … (0 comments)

south carolina: Democracy in Myrtle Beach - 01/09/08 09:20 AM
Finishing out the first week of 2008 yesterday, I must say that I had hoped for a major change.  A huge shift.  The shudder of the commerce gear beginning to grind away.  Alas, no shudder... just the constant buzz of the polical machine heading towards South Carolina.
Yes, the debate is taking place tomorrow night and the city is quaking with anticipation for our famous visitors.  It's exciting to be a part of the electoral process... HERE in little ol' Myrtle Beach!
A sand sculpture has been erected in the candidates honor across from the convention center - similar to Mount Rushmore, … (0 comments)

south carolina: Media Fabrications - 11/07/07 08:29 AM
On October 27, the South Carolina Association of REALTORS forwarded the following article to all members of the Association:
In an attempt to shock its readers into buying newspapers, editors at The State Newspaper (Columbia, SC) fabricated a sensational headline. Wednesday's readers saw "Home sales plunge" stretched across the front page above the fold. (If you'd like to read the article, click here. However, immediately below the banner, the article explains, "sellers appear to be holding out for the asking price they want . . . prices rose close to 6 percent . . . for the year, however, the slide pushed Columbia's … (0 comments)
